so i was out at this reptile zoo thing and asked the guy what kind of mite medication he uses. because my ball python has had a few mites for a couple weeks now. and i cant get rid of them. i have been using zoo-med mite off. and it seems like crap so far. anways, he said he uses a product called provent-a-mite. he says its illegal in canada and has to import it from the states. so i was just wondering if it was safe for my snake or not? does it actually work(and he said hed import a can for me for 50 bucks cdn) which is pretty pricey considering i payed 12.50 for the zoomed stuff.
it just seems kinda scary that it is illegal in canada..

should i buy it or no? has anyone ever used it?

i really want a turtle and can totally handle the responsibility and everything, so just to let you know that's not what i'm asking, but what i do want to know is when can i get one? There's usually a bunch at the lakes around here but i haven't seen any lately, like since late summer i guess, maybe a bit b4 that. i called the pet store and one din't have any, the other was like 90 bucks for one(not paying that) and i think 20 for another but it needed to constanly b n water. i want one that can run around. ^_^ Anyone know when i might start seeing them again? Also, about how much does it cost per month to keep it fed and everything. Someone told me they're not very clean, so don't try to tell me that, i know and don't care. i keep my stuff clean. ^_^ thanks! btw, srry if i sound like irrated or anything, long day... blah. thanks in advance! ^_^

I have a Sucata Tortoise and we live in minnesota, so during the summer we let her outside all the time and during winter, we have a cage set up for her inside. But during fall, its not to hot or cold, so what degrees (F) can she be allowed outside?

I was riding my bicycle and I saw a turtle next to the road. It's not a box turtle, it's a snapping turtle. It was too big to carry with one hand while riding my bike. I left it there, but I was afraid it might wander into the road and get hit by a car.
I asked some people , and they said it is probably looking for a place to hibernate. I know these things can bite, so I didn't try to move him. We had six inches of rain the other day, and he was moving toward higher ground.
Should I take the turtle to a wildlife sanctuary? The neighborhood he was in has 10 to 15 acre homes, so I think he has space, but he was only two feet from a road.
He's more than a foot long.

Ok, so I was walking my dog today and he likes to go to the irrigation pond near my house and watch the frogs jump in the water. =) well today when we were there, we saw a yellow bellied slider out basking (about a foot long). I got about 3 feet away from it and just watched it, the poor thing must have had a rough life, it is missing an eye AND has a fish hook embedded into the left side of its head. It is so infected that it looks like the poor thing ate a ping pong ball. I felt so bad for it that I went to go grab it and try to help it, but as soon as I got close enough to grab it, it bolted back into the water and as it tried to submerge, it just floated back up. I feel so bad for it. I don't want to take it out myself, I just want to take it to the vet and have them take it out. And if worse comes to worse, I will keep it with my other turtle. So how can I catch the turtle?

We are itching all over but haven't been around anyone with Scabies. Just started itching after we aquired mice to feed the snakes. Or can fleas make you itch all over your body and feel like something is crawling in the corner of your eyes. I'm going to bomb today because I did see a couple fleas. Could they make this feeling? Usu. when I've had fleas, I visibally break out but I haven't like that.

Hey I was thinking about getting 2 cumberland turtles, and it was all going well until I read somewhere that they grow to the size of a dinner plate, and that the tank you need is so big that it cant go upstairs. I was just wondering, is this true? And also can you give me anymore info on them please? Thanks xx

I just got 2 tortoises about 3 weeks ago. 1 Sulcata and 1 Red-footed ( I think he's less than a year). The Sulcata is very active and eat a lot, while the Red-footed eat very little and seems to sleep a lot. Today, when I came home and saw the Red-footed looks like he's sleeping, but when I pick him up and touch him he's not moving at all. I saw there's saliva came out from his nose. I'm worrying about my tortoise. I don't know what happen to him and I don't want him to die. Please tell me if you know why my tortoise is like that. I really appreciate that. I might have to take the tortoise to a vet when the morning come. Thank you very much for taking your time to answer my questions.

Regards,

PAL

I have a small red eared slider turtle. I now keep him in a small aquarium with rocks at the bottom with just about 2 1/2 inches of water. Can I put him in deep water? Can they swim?

Hi,
I am going to get a ball python pretty soon and want to save some money. The branches at the pet store are like $12 each and to get two of them can be anywhere from 20-25 dollars. We recently cut down a tree by our house and had a lot of extra branches, I know the branches at the pet store are probably treated with something, is there anything I can do here at home to treat the branches? Anything I need to soak it in? Or is it better just to go ahead and buy them at the store?
And also, just some advice for a first time snake owner would be great. I know ball pythons are great for first timers. Just some facts would be great!!
Thanks : )

And house them togeather in a 4 foot vivarium? I know two males would fight but I would like a female to go with my male dragon. My male dragon is 3-5 month old and 10 inch long. If you have personal experience what are the pro's and con's of pairing them togeather?

I have a male adult Russian tortoise and have only owned it for a few months. I was wondering if anyone can give me some information on his hibernation habits. Specific dates for hibernating and how captivity affects them is important as well. Thanks.
