Although it will take a few days to settle, pinkies are NOT hte only thing you can feed your snake.

If you can get a hold of buttonquail eggs or chicks, he will eat those too. Small lizards are also game.

When hatchlings, about the only thing the corns CAN eat are small pinkies. You need to find some. Someone else said small lizards and such. NOT TRUE WITH HATCHLINGS.

I'm not trying to sound obnoxious, but you really should have looked into that BEFORE buying the snake. Doesn't the place you bought the snake from have pinkies? They'd have to.

Like someone else said, you shouldn't try to feed or handle it for a least one week to give it time to settle in. If you can't find any stores that sell pinkies, you can look online. They do ship them in bulk. Not sure of the prices cause I just always bought them from the store.

Actually small lizards are eaten in the wild by cornsnake hatchlings BUT I caution you against feeding those as they carry huge parasite loads. Pinkies are the most suitable food item and most captive born and bred snakes will readily take frozen thawed. You have time to either find them at the petstore or buy them online. As one of the people pointed out, you should already have found a food source before you decided to get the snake. Have you looked into a reptile vet near you as well? What would you do if your snake became ill or injured.

This is an alright method of feeding (two items at the same time). When I need to feed a snake that takes small rats, but of of rats, I will feed two adult mice simultaneously. Also if it is too much for the snake, the snake will not eat both, except with TX rat snakes, I've seen them eat until they regurgitate. the power feeding method recommended by some involves feeding a larger feed every few days, a rough comparison would be power lifting, large amounts, low quantity, short rest, this will get the snake growing quick. It all comes down to personal preference. My snakes that are too small for rats, I feed two mice. If I must leave my snakes alone for a while, I may feed them twice their usual amount, if they'll take it. You'll just have to experiment and go with works best for you.

small pinkies is the only thing you can feed a hatchling corn. You need to give it a week to settle in before offering food anyways, so that gives you time to find some.

Just order frozen pinkies from one of many suppliers. I get mine from: http://www.bigcheeserodents.com/

Frozen/thawed is safest for snakes. Your hatchling will be just fine until your order arrives. You don't want to feed him right away anyhow. Give him a week to adjust to his new home. Come by the corn forum and join/say hi. It is a great site with a lot of true experts and corn lovers.
