I have a painted turtle and I would like to clean her shell but I'm afraid I might damage it. What are the supplies you need and the correct way to effectively clean her shell? It doesn't look like it's rotting, just mabye some leftover food that somehow got on her shell. I afraid to take a toothbrush to it because i'm afraid it will hurt her...PLEASE HELP!

Ok so my question is: Have you guys ever heard of the saying
"Something next to something blah blah everything is ok. Something next to red, everyone is dead" I remembered there was this trick into remembering the difference between the poisonous and nonpoisonous. Anyone know what I'm talking about?

I am getting a corn snake on Fri from Petsmart. I was wondering if i could buy him a new friend that was in his tank with him. I would buy him him/them a 40 gallon tank now or eventually. What do you think about this? Could it be possible? Would they/he/she like it?

I have a bigger hermit crab which his body is about the size of dime (Itchy) and a baby hermit crab which is really tiny (Scratchy). They are both purple pintchers. My baby crabs eyes are black is that normal. hes also been diggin alot of holes lately. Also will my big one pick on the little one? he hasnt yet but should i watch him. I also have them in flordia sand should i put them in something else? or do you think they are fine with the sand? Is it also ok to let your hermit crab crawl around the house for like 2 to 3 hours a day?

Thanks so much

Have it in a tank with bark chips, hiding rock, branch for climbing and basking, water and bark mulch is moist. Seems to be thriving by feeding the baby snake turtle food, cut into small pieces. but don't want to overfeed. Read that earthworms and crickets are good eats, but any other suggestions, advice and/or guidance would be GREATLY appreciated.

What about any of these foods for a baby BD?:

the "Zoomed" Canned BD Food

JurassiDiet Easi-Silkworm

Exo Terra BD Foods

Rep Cal Bearded Dragon Food

Nature Zone Bearded Dragon Bites

Adult Bearded Dragon Monster Diet

**The reason I am asking is that I would like to change my BD food to something artificial because he does not like any veggies

Would i have to add calcium to any or all of these

I want a bearded dragon and my dad doesnt. He wants me to get a corn snake. I like corn snakes but i think lizards are equally fun and cool. He doesnt want me to get a BD because of the diet. He thinks that it is too much trouble. He does not like the idea of a mix of fresh chopped veggies with crickets that also have calcium on them. Is he right? I keep seeing the BD as a beginner reptile but it seems hard? What do you think? I think they seem fun and energetic....

The top ridge (line that runs from the neck of the turtle to the tail) of both my Red Eared Sliders shell is a different color than the rest of the shell. They are both healthy and very active! Can anyone tell me why this part of the shell is different color? They are both growing fast (one is growing faster than the other), but I don't know if this is the reason for the shell being a different color.

Thanks!

If i were to get a Bearded Dragon, could i feed it the rep-cal juvenille food that is especially designed for beardies? And, could i use one of the Zoomed Powersun lamps that emit UV with heat and visible light? Could that be my only light?

I bought two red eared sliders and one is growing faster than the other. The little one is half the size as the other one and both were the same size when I bought them. Both are very healthy and the little one eats more than the bigger one. I feed them in a separate tank and I put the little one in to feed a couple minutes before the other, so that he is getting enough food. The little one will even fight for food and he usually wins! :) I bought them less than two inches long so they are not old enough for me to tell their sex. Is it normal for one turtle to grow at such a rapid rate compared to the other?

2007-10-01 12:25:58 · 5 answers · asked by Anonymous

I know my temps are right and my tank is big enough, because he is only 5 weeks old. But he still keeps running up to the glass, standing on his hind legs and pressing up against it. Sometimes, I wonder if he is seeing his reflection or something. Is this normal. Sometimes he will even do it and close his eyes. WEIRD!
