My son fed our Iguana lettuce yesterday, he didn't know he shouldn't feed iguana's lettuce. What will happen to iguana's if you feed them lettuce (will they die) and why are you not supposed to feed them with it?

My lizard just doesn't seem interested in her food. She use to eat lettuce, but now won't touch it. She is eating meal worms and some crickets. She tastes things but won't eat them. She has a warming light and a uv light. She was without crickets for some time. Could that be her problem?

Hey everyone. I have never had any experience with lizards before, but within the last month or so, I have wanted to own a Bearded Dragon. I did some online research on them and today decided to go to Petco after school and look around to get an idea for price. Well, as I walked in, there was a terrarium in the front of the store with a lizard inside. It was a baby Bearded Dragon. It's back right foot is broken off and hanging onto it's body by it's skin. I adopted it and brought it home. I gave it a bath and made a little home for it. As of now, it is just sitting in it's little plastic container with a little bowl of water. I bought some small mealworms for it but it hasn't eaten any yet. It climbs on my fingers when I hold it but when I put it down, it's just sitting there. Will it's foot grow back? I know lizard tails can grow back...but will it's foot? HELP!!! WE NEED HELP!!

Thanks in advance!!

I was searching the web for something random and actually came upon a petition to stop the sale of feeder mice at Petco. This petition actually goes into description about how the mice are in for a 'torturous, horrible death' from the snake owner or the snake itself. I want to know everyone's opinion on this, because if people see the food chain as being evil and torturous, then what does that mean for any carnivore?

I have had my Florida River Cooter for 15 years. I have taken very good care of her and made sure that she stays healthy. Recently I let her spend the summer in an outdoor pond at my dads house while we worked on ours at home. She has stayed in this particular pond a few years ago every summer and no negative effects. Now that it is cooling down I went to get her and she has several white spots all over the top and bottom of her shell. These are hard, and I was able to peel one off and the shell under it was the normal color although it wasnt smooth like it should be. Other spots seem to be one layer into the shell. Is this shell rot? Also some of the white spots seem like there is air underneath.... What do I need to do short of taking her to the vet?

My brother, who handles snakes alot, milks the snakes and then drinks the venom to build up an immunity. The other month he was bitten by a Tiger Snake, usually lethal and didn't die. Can you build up an immunity to venom by drinking it and smoking it? (apparently you get high from this)

Ive posted a few other questions, and it sounds like the reptile vet i have been depending on really doesnt know what he is talking about.
Apparently iguanas shouldnt eat crickets, or cat food, or spinach like he advised me. So what should i do. He is the only veterinarian in my entire city that deals with reptiles (i have searched around) so i dont know what i should do. Should i just forget the vets all together and take his health into my own hands?
My iguana is definatley not on his death bed or anything, its just im trying to to my very best to take care of him.
Hes perfectly green, and i feed him what i think im supposed to be feeding now, (thanks to yahoo answers and NOT my vet)
So veterinarian care is not an emergency. it's just i wish i could have someone to trust and fall back on if i cant help my little one.
I also went out and bought him a proper heat lamp, so im hoping his little bump thing will go away.with proper food.

He eats plenty of crickets, about 20 per day, and he has licked at some of the squash baby food we gave him, but he won't have any thing to do with the greens we've been trying to feed him. We've tried mustard, callored, and dandilion greens. He took to bites of the dandilions and hasn't toched anything else since. We tried tiny pieces of grapes and lots of baby food varieties, but crickets are the only thing he will eat. We tried not feeding him for 1 whole day, and still nothing. We had to give him crickets after that, so he wouldn't go hungry. I tried wiggling it in front of him, putting it on a tupperware lid, and leaving bits of greens arond his cage, but he is very stubborn. What should we do?
