We are itching all over but haven't been around anyone with Scabies. Just started itching after we aquired mice to feed the snakes. Or can fleas make you itch all over your body and feel like something is crawling in the corner of your eyes. I'm going to bomb today because I did see a couple fleas. Could they make this feeling? Usu. when I've had fleas, I visibally break out but I haven't like that.

Snake can't carry scabies. Only warm- blooded creatures can contract or carry scabies.

I looked around and most of what I read just say mites and not give a certain type. Below is a Copy & Paste of how to get rid of them. I not know much of this, so, it a idea you may want to study about more.

Mites are pinhead-sized, blood sucking arthropods closely related to ticks. The common snake mite almost always arrives on a snake from a pet store or other infested location. They are seldom found on freshly caught snakes. Putting a two inch square piece of a Shell No-Pest Strip or equivalent (active ingredient = 2,2-dichlorovinyl dimethyl phosphate) in the snake cage over night kills the mites. Put the Strip in a cardboard or plastic container with holes in it. The insecticide can come out, but the snake can't touch the Strip. Don't give water at this time. Afterwards, clean the cage well. This treatment should be enough if the mite-carrying snake has just arrived. If the mites aren't detected immediately, they spread. The treatment may have to be repeated once a week for a month to catch them all.

I have had snakes with mites and I am not certain humans can get the same parasites as animals can.

I do suggest going to your health department for yourself, you can get scabies and human lice from movie theaters and close contact in public places, and your health department will have low cost, better treatments than over the counter harsh chemicals.

Yes they do. Feather mites can be carried on the birds but wont affect humans...they are whats called host specicifc. However often in wild birds nests are red mites. Very prolific, very contagious, very hard to be rid of and blood sucking little beasties. These red mites can invade your home and can bite you. They will affect humans. Read up on red mites to know if they are happening in this case.

The mites most commonly found on snakes are wood mites . They can irritate humans but that would be a hygene problem they should wash off your skin and with regular bathing should eliminate them.

Don't bomb with the snakes in the house! But the snake mites don't bother people- just harm the snakes.
