Well I've had my Mali Uro for about 4 weeks now. For now she is in a 10 gal tank with paper towel for bedding, a hide box, and slate for basking. For lighting a 100 watt household bulb + a UVB bulb. She has a good diet and is eating pretty well. But when she breathsshe seems to make a little snap, crackle, pop noise. I called the vet today (their about 79 miles away) They said about $49 for the check up and about $29 for medicine and my mom just isn't really going for it. Is there any thing I can do to in hopes she might kick it on her own???

Thank you everyone, PLEASE HELP! 10 *stars!*

Research the type of repitle you have, and see what their signs of health problems are. Find out what are you missing from taking care of your Mali Uro, what special treatment for your kind of repitil....Again you would have to try budgeting your $$$ ---Sorry Mum ain't going to chip in, unless you can do more chores or something to keep your Mum happy, and be nice---see if that charm of yours work!

Good luck!

A 10 gallon is far too small for even a baby Uro. She needs a 40 gal breeder or larger. You just can't get a temperature gradient in a 10 gallon. They need to have 120F at the basking end of the tank, and around 80F at the other end of the tank. Can't be done in a 10 gallon! Hopefully you are measuring temperatures with a digital probe thermometer--stick ons and dials are not at all accurate and only measure air temps. You need to measure basking temps. Poor temps can lead to respiratory illness. She also need a fresh mixed salad daily with proper vitamins. Sorry, but Uros are not the easiest reptiles to care for. Any reptile should be vet checked, especially for parasites.

Well if they are offering medication, then it must be serious. Try turningdown the heat. And spray the cage with water. Uros can get quite big so you might want to get a bigger cage. And how much did your Uro cost? What's better: $100 on medication or whatever hundred dollars wasted. And remind her you might be sentencing an innocent animal to death.

I had a bearded dragon that died of a respiration an infection. We took him to the vet and he pronounced to place supplements and calcium on all of his food, and that's all shall we actually do for him. regrettably, it did no longer paintings for us, yet on the grounds that that's what the vet informed us to do, i'd a minimum of attempt it. suited of success.
