They're called kingworms, or superworms. Those are the larger version of mealworms & yes they do bite.
I dont suggest you pick one up with your fingers. I use the tongs they sell at petstores for this.
They're wooden & dont kill the bug.

Large mealworms are called kingworms. Superworms are another species and should not be confused with mealworms. Superworms are easier to digest and they have black heads. It is an old wives tale that you need to cut their heads off before feeding them to a lizard--lizards chomp on them and even if they did swallow them whole, stomach acids would kill them very quickly.

meal worms do not bite but they can pose a threat to the reptile if not eaten properly the inch long ones you must chop off the head this will stop them chewing through the gut and killing the reptile and both are same breeds just bigger

Yes but i doubt you would feel it but the kingworms do, they are horrible little monsters and will even bite when they are being eaten, before i started squishing the heads on mine they used to bite my water dragons as they fed on them.
When i feed them to my spiders i have one who doesnt kill his prey before eating it and he was feeding on one for nearly 24 hours and it was still alive.

Nasty things, they can twist round and nip you if you pick them up, use long tongs. My beardies love them, they chomp the heads off straight away.

Yes they can. I've had other herpers tell me to break their heads off before feeding them to my dragons. They still wiggle, but they can't do internal damage to my beardies.
