I'd like to keep 1 pair of Convict Cichlids in the smallest tank possible because of my limited space. Is 25gal a big enough tank to keep them?

Hi, how can I entertain my fish? I have already done the following:
- put in lots of plants/rocks/ornaments
- filled a water bottle up with water and turned it upside down in the tank so it floats and my fish can swim around in it (she actually does!)
- I have a betta so I can't quite get tankmates for her
- taught her how to eat from my fingers
Any ideas?

I usually give answers to fish questions, but today Im asking one.
I have a variety of fish in my aquarium. Theyre all community fish. The one I need help with today is a small neon tetra. It looks like something is eating him. Parts of his chest is gone, and he wont eat alot. Hes usually a vigerous eater, so I dont understand. I think he might have a parasite, but im unsure. what could it be and is it treatable. Do you need more info?

I've had this fish for over a year, I've not seen any more in the pet shop to get the name of it and the pet shop staff didn't know when i described it to them. Ive looked it up and i think it looks similar to a pitbull pleco but i cant find any that are exactly the same as this one. Does anyone know exactly what species of pleco this is? Any info would be great, thankyou.

Someone posted a question about their betta, admitted to never changing the water, that they only add water when it evaporates, admits to it being a bad thing to do then says their betta is dieing what should they do.... so I answer then I get a nasty email about how I know nothing. I have been experienced with bettas for 15 years. If you dont like my advice you dont have to take it. Simple.

My male beta fish only blows bubbles that pop. He may be older since he has long fins and not interested in mating. I've put the femle is a seperate place in his tank so he can see her and stuff. Why won't he form a bubble nest?

My swordtail gave birth last night. She was in a breeders tank so there are now 12 or so baby fry in the bottom. What do i do next? if they get too big will they be able to get out of the bottom? its a three way breeder tank and the fry have gone to the bottom so that the mother wouldnt eat them. i was just making sure they would be able to get out of there. also i bought first bites to feed them. i was told to feed them that untill they are big enough to not fit in the other fishes mouth. and then feed them small flakes. the first bites is just like this powder substance and i just put it in the breeder tank with them

I just got a Beta fish three days ago, and from what I've seen, he isn't really eating. Right now, I'm feeding him the tropical fish, Beta food that the fish guy suggested. Is it just because he's getting used to the change or should i change his food to something else?

If i have a fully cycled freshwater tank and i plan on adding some sand to it, will the new sand affect the cycled tank in any way? is there anything i should know before i introduce the sand to the tank?

Also, i am currently using some old white rocks as substrate, they are turning green. Is that ok?

I currently have a 20g tank that's been set up for about 2 weeks, give or take. I've got 3 danios and 5 white clouds. My ammonia hasn't spiked yet, and I've got several other fish in a temp. 10g holding tank that I want to add to the 20g as soon as I can (well, as fast as is healthy for the biofilter).

If I were to take out the danios and white clouds and put them in temp. holding tanks as well, and then add ammonia to my 20g and do a fishless cycle, would that help the cycle go faster?

They get feed once to twice a day, the tank has a pump/filter system and as far as I have been told the tank is certainly big enough for at least the two of them. The water level was 3/4 full so it needed to jump quite high to get out. Will the other one stress now, I will be going out tomorrow to get another one to replace it, but don't know whether it will stress the original one out. We clean the tank out once a week, and it was only yesterday morning that I gave the tank a complete clean out for which I added the appropriate water conditioner and clorine treatment....my son was devestated as he has looked after them so well since getting them. Can anyone help please??

I currently have a thirty gallon tank set up with two green spotted puffers and five bettas, but am getting three pairs of german rams and would like to lower the pH to a nice 7.0-7.2 (it's probably at 7.8-8.0 now).
I was wondering what product would be best to use and how to go about doing it so as not to shock my current fish?

thanks!

Whenever I go to feed him he swims away and when i'm cleaning out the bowl and I need to get him out he always swims away and I can never catch him, even with a net! It's quite a struggle. Also, he just got over finrot, so I thought, but now the part of the fin that was covered in white-ish gray coating is coming apart. But he still seems happy, just completely afraid/unresponsive to me. How do i get him to no longer be afraid?

Well its been 2 weeks since I got this fish it was eating a little bit of TetraMid but then it stop. I though because It had a new environment(tank) so It wouldn't eat. I ask PetSmart and they told me try feeding it Bloodworm and Cichlid Gold so I did but it still wont eat anything. Now one my Angel fish is on it side way like a up arrow. whats wrong with it? the other Angel fish looks fine.

I just lost my three year old betta fish and I am planning to get a new one. I had him in a one an a half gallon bowl, with a small heater, marbles at the bottom, a small plant, and a snail. I was thinking of adding a filter to make my next betta's existance a little more comfortable. Here are the products I have been considering. Any suggestions or oppinions would be greatly oppreciated.

I've already put them together and they seem fine. I was told that beta can live with other fish as long as they don't look similar to a beta. These fish are half the size of the beta and usually hang around the bottom, lately they have become active swimming around and jetting to the top for air.

Also, any advice on food? Right now they just get the leftovers from the beta food and stuff that collects on the bottom. Should I put any veggies in there for them? Will that make my beta sick?

Thanks!!!

im thinking of buying a 5 year old aquarium, with 5 year old pump, heater etc.

is it obsolete now? i mean, a 5 year old TV would be hardly worth what you paid for it 5 years ago.
