I had a kid come to my house once a day for a week while I was on vacation and feed my fish. How much should I pay the kid?

I plan on buying a Royal Gramma soon in the near future. we had an anemone... but it died in a month... and killed all my plants. We just want a small easy to take care of anemone that my clownfish would be very friendly with and play with all the time.

they pick at the plastic plants all day , there's some algae on them and i think they are getting bits of that but is that normal? they are cichlids. i have had them for about three years and they all seem healthy but i think its weird that they are always scavenging. i feed them twice a day ,enough for them to eat for a few minutes , theres really no left over at all by the time there done. is that enough? is it better to feed them pellets rather then flakes? i have them on flakes because there used to be alot of small one but now there all pretty big so maybe they should have pellets?

I've enjoyed keeping a few soft corals in my 46 gallon bowfront for the past few years, but I was thinking of adding some live plants to the tank. What would you recommend? What are the lighting requirements for marine plants? Are there any special measures I should take into consideration before buying plants for my tank?

I've never had one of these, myself, but I was wondering if any of you had and what you thought of them. I was thinking about getting one to keep a couple pairs of dwarf seahorses.

Here's the website for those of you who don't know what I'm talking about:

I have a hexagon shaped fish tank 55gal and it is to deep for florescent lighting. These mercury vapor bulbs dont require a ballist or something do they. Can I screw one into a regular ceramic light fixture. Also Im going to build a top for the aquarium myself Will this light create a lot of heat do I need to add venting slits and a computer fan to keep the air moving. If you know a lot about these bulbs tell me everything.
THANKS

I know the photos aren't great but yeah. I looked it up and decided it must be a bristle worm which sound scary! But it's so big I can't imagine they aren't MORE... plese tell me it's possible this was the only one.

But furthmore. I took the rock out and put it on the kitchen counter for removal of the worm.... when I saw millions of THESE (the long thing all the way to the right)
http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f94/puredoller/100_1626.jpg

now I realize you can barely see this but we initially thought they were tiny worms until we saw one swimming in the bowl. my boyfriend said they looked like tiny shrimp and was wondering if Troy (our peppermint shimp) had reproduced alone... then I said HEY! That could be an amphipod!

Aren't they tiny shrimp like looking things?

I dont know if this one fish that i have has ick or not. only one has it and it is all over her. but im not sure because last time they had it the white spots were bigger, rounder, and whiter. its smaller this time and it almost look like her scales are shedding or something. she is not eating and swims around really fast and then settles somewhere and kind of just floats there, sinking a bit... she doesnt come up for air (which i know is a sign for ick). i have ick removal stuff that i bought but is it safe for the baby fish i have in the tank? help?!

I saw a unique 3 gallon tank that I like, but the top is open - do those sorts of fish - that would be okay in a small tank - like to jump?

I have had two Bettas (the only other fish I have kept) commit suicide by jumping - so now I keep them covered...someone told me betta's are jumpers....

But what about these fish - could I put them in an uncovered tank?

This one specifically...

Does anyone know if a blue dwarf gourami would get on with some neon tetras? the guy at my local pet shop who is very helpful told me hes had loads of people have trouble with gourami's being a bit bullying (ie they try to eat the other fish) towards their other fish. So he told me to get some red honey gourami's instead... thing is I have had my heart set on a blue dwarf gourami for AAAAAGES and I dont want to get it if it eats my neons up ... anyway that i can at least help them get along ?? At the moment I have 5 neon tetras. They are doing well and I was thinking maybe upping it to a 10 fish shoal to deter the gourami from bullying? but I wasn't sure if different tetras would shoal together or not ... so do i go for another 5 neon tets or just different tets to give the tank a bit of variation? aaaargh I feel like my head is gonna explode with all these questions . Any help would be GREATLY appreciated. Oh and my tank is 35 litres (10 UK gallon i think )

So heres my question: If I were to rinse out the tank a lot, would it be possible to put fish in it? I know that fish can't live with soap residue, but...

Is that a good deal? On of my friend's friend is selling his used tank with fish and stuff in it.I have not checked it out yet, but I'm guessing it has tank, decorations, gravel, filter, hood.
I'd like to know if it's a good deal before I drive to check it out.
