FYI - those tanks do have a cover - I own one. It's just not clear in the photo in that link, or it was left off for the photo. The cover is clear acrylic, just like the rest of the tank and has a cut-out on the back and side you can punch out, depending on where you want to put the filter.
Any fish is capable of jumping, if it gets spooked or the water conditions in the tank become intolerable for it. I had one danio that always tried to pretend it was a salmon by swimming upstream and jumping into the filter.
ADDITION: Here's a photo I took of my tank (not set up yet) at an angle that shows the cover: http://i172.photobucket.com/albums/w10/copperhead_photos/TOMdecotank.jpg The photo was taken using the tank's lighting which is a 50/50 "daylight" and actinic, which gives the overall effect of blue lighting (great for saltwater, but maybe not as ideal for freshwater). About the only openings are where the filter returns the water and the open hole for lifting the lid.

For a six gallon. i could say ONE betta. you are able to't positioned 2 male, or 2 lady betta's in one tank without them battling. Or, a male and a girl, the male will kill her, maximum probably. you are able to desire to not have a posh guppy in a six gallon, and have it stay thankfully. Nor, are you able to with neon tetras, because of the fact which you opt for a team of those, a minimum of 5 or extra. So, consistent with danger you should get a male, OR a girl betta fish. : ] they're particularly gorgeous. yet verify to not run a filter out in there, or in case you do make it the place it does not make the water pass plenty. The betta heavily isn't happy, specifically despite if it rather is a male betta, because of the fact they elect to make bubble nests. solid good fortune with what ever fish you chosen. And, i'm happy you're unlike a number of those human beings right here this evening, asking in case you are able to extra healthful distinctive six inch fish in a 5 gallon tank. a minimum of you picked smaller fish. : ] Like I mentioned, solid good fortune!

I wouldn't suggest leaving the cover off. Never know when you get a kamikaze fish!

I've only got one neon, and s/he is pretty docile. He'll generally just sulk around mid-tank. I'm pretty sure they can jump if they wanted to, though.
