Non animal lovers think like this. To them any pet can be replaced with another, its only an animal. They may consider them with no soul, feelings, any character at all. If this were all true, all dogs would move + behave the same, just as any other animal. They also don't place much value on pets. To me each one is different no matter what type they are.

This is said by people who consider fish to be useless, as animals or pets. They also probably would not spend much time or money on a fish. That is their own opinion, and that is fine. But they should not expect everyone else to feel the same. Fish can actually have a lot of personality, not to mention beauty and for some people watching fish swim and play in their aquariums is very relaxing and peaceful. Most people who say stuff like this are simply not educated about fish and just don't know about them. It's not necessarily a bad thing, but I am strongly against people judging things that they know nothing about. That includes fish, I guess. XD

I myself love fish. I have 4 tropical fish tanks and I care about every fish in those tanks. I work hard at keeping them alive, healthy, and yes happy and comfortable. Just like I'd want to be taken care of. Anyway, I don't like the term, " it's just a fish." Yes, it may be a fish but it's alive. They do have feelings such as fear for an example. I believe that what people are meaning when they say this......they are saying the fishes life doesn't matter...they can't do this or that....the fish are just worthless and who cares if they die. Some of my fish have great personality's. I can have a lot of fun with them. They do listen to you and can warm up to you and other things. So I really dislike when people say, just a fish.

Too many people consider fish a "throwaway" pet. They're not that expensive, and most people don't consider them to be intelligent.

So if it gets sick or dies, "Why worry about it? Get another one - it's just a fish!".

These people have probably never taken the time to research their fish's needs, or to really observe their behavior. Some fish (oscars, puffers) are just as much of a pet as a dog or cat. Not to mention, some people get attached to their fish.

they mean its un-important. just another line of critter in a long line of them. they have probably never known the joys of having a real pet. oscars can be great pets, you can even sorta train them, they are pretty cool.
