ok i have four fish. one red capped (not an oranda), two black telescopes and one fantail goldfish. i had another red cap but it died a few days ago. now, one of my telescope has a white thing on its mouth and it looks like its been bitten off but not the whole thing. and there's a flap thats covering half of its mouth so it can't really eat. then now it looks like as if it's bleeding. there's a red thing on the edge of the white whatever thats on its mouth. i don't know what disease this is. please help me identify what it is so i can buy the right medicine for it.

I would like to sell in on ebay or craigs list but do not know how I should go about storing it until it sells. I have already taken the tank down and dont know if I should just keep the live rock in a bucket of water or let it sit without water. If I can keep it out of water how long before it "dies"

Fish involved have been with me for over a year and are settled in healthy tank. The neon got very uncomfortable with its 'shadow' but took about a minute to shake it off. Neon is a bit of a plumper - therefore probably female. Both fish live happily with a group of there own species within the tank.

Hey everyone I know this is kind of dumb but it's a problem I'm wrestling with. When you do your regular water change on a tank (cleaning gravel and swapping out 20% of the water in the process) do you take the fish out or leave them in. Either a personal habit or a reason why I should do one or the other would be great. I just don't have a large enough container to hold all of my fish during the water change anymore, so I was wondering if I need to split them up into separate jars or just leave them in there. What do you think?

I'm getting a betta for a friend (he knows about it and wants it, he keeps fish already) and have a limited budget. I can either get him a 1-2 gallon glass tank (with filter, heater and everything) or get a 4-5 gallon plastic one (with filter, heater and everything).

The difference is, the 4-5 gallon is twice the size and half the price...

I had a tropical fish tank and bought four Platys (type of fish) and within a week or two all but one was dead even though I had been feeding them regularly and the tempurature was fine so I got eight Mollys (type of fish) and within about a month they were all dead. My uncle said it was the fact that they might live in salty water and there was no salt in the water and my friends mum said it was because I hadn't rinsed the tank out before I bought it. I had left the water a week like the shop said before homing the fish and replaced all the water before I got the Mollys so why did they all die so soon :/ ???

I just got a betta earlier this week. We have a 1g aquarium with an underground filter that is piped to the top. I treated the water with betta specific conditioner and rinsed everything with warm water - no soap.

The first night was fine, but the next morning there were a ton of bubbles at the top - almost half an inch everywhere. I went to feed my betta, and the bubbles foamed up through the feeding passage and went everywhere. I haven't had an aquarium or a fish for a few years, and it was a goldfish - I never remember these problems. I know males are bubble nesters, but this seems awfully excessive and I'm positive they come from the filter. I turned the filter off to get rid of the bubbles since I read that bettas breath through water and air.

I'm just worried about the little guy and I don't want him to get hurt (or worse, die).

I have a 10 gallon tank with a balloon molly and a platy (both female) I really want a male betta fish. Could I keep them together? I could get him his own 5 gallon tank, but the temperature during the winter would be ranging from the 50-60's. The 10 gallon is always between 75 and 80 degrees fahrenheit. There is about 2 tablespoons of aquarium salt in the 10 gallon.

It's a 10 gallon that contains 3 corydoras catfish and a betta. Anything else? I don't want tetras or guppies, BTW.

is swimming around in my aquarium, he is about 1cm long and I see him occasionally, he is tiny.

What is it? how did it get there and is it bad? I also have snails, they probably came in with plants I bought.

I have a 120l freshwater aquarium with angelfish guppies and tetras.

Can someone make some suggestions? He isn't eating or moving and just sits in one corner. If I tap on the glass he'll react but that's about all. I tried looking online to find some symptoms of the sickness but couldn't find anything. He is old but I don't think that old. I have cleaned the tank and put fresh water with new filter. Is the water possibly to cold? Thanks in advance.
