my local fish shop sells discus fish of all sizes from small to massive, i have reasearched on a few sites that the care for these fish is moderate(not easy but not hard) and i am caring for fish of also moderate care, but some people say these are difficult fish to care for, my local sho keeps them fine and looking great, and fish isnt their ment business, could i keep a small discus in my 56ltr aquarium with neon tetras, guppies, pepper corys?

Discus will easily reach 6+ inches, and a 56 liter tank is simply too small. They are very tall fish, and the minimum size I would even consider keeping them in would be 30 gallons with 55 gallons being immensely better... Discus can be very sensitive and often struggle to adapt to different water qualities, so I would classify them as difficult, not moderate... Unless you can acclimate them over the course of a few hours (at least 2.5 hours) to a fairly acidic tank with plenty of plants, hiding spaces, and room, you really shouldn't even consider it... Contact me if you have any questions.

i h8 to tell you, but discus are not moderate fish. they are if you dont mind water changes, but they need high temperture water that guppies and neon tetras dont tolerate. also, they require (on average) a minimum of 3 30% water changes a week. and thats a minimum. discus are a serious commitment. if you are ready to give a lot of time to a discus, then go for it. but if this is just a small part of your life, it is not a venture to undertake.

i am not sure. my dad has been breeding them and selling them for years. i never saw them in a fish tank with any other fish. my dad used to show me them all the time and the one time they were in the same fish tank they would 'fight' with the other fish (i think they were some kind of angle fish) so i would recomend not mixing them with any other fish. it didn't seem to hard to take care of them. he would clean the fish tank often and would feed them, and just watch them, he loves fish. haha. and he really enjoys taking care of them. they are cool. good luck!
