Bettas can go for up to a week without food, so if his lack of a ride is temporary, I wouldn't worry about it. Otherwise, there's really nothing he can do but find a way to buy more food.

You CAN feed bettas boiled peas, if you peel off the skin and cut them into small enough pieces, and in fact these will help their digestive systems, but they can't live on these alone.

The betta will be able to survive for a few days without food, so if he can get to the store in the next few days, this isn't a problem.
