I was recently cleaning out my 10 gallon tank, and I decided to have a lunch break. As I was eating, my dad decides to take a shower. With the tank in the tub. So heres my question: If I were to rinse out the tank a lot, would it be possible to put fish in it? I know that fish can't live with soap residue, but...

You've gotten a lot of great answers, rinsing with hot water is the best thing you can do, just do it a lot. The only other tip I may have for you is (as long as it is glass) wetting the inside of the tank and then get some freshwater aquarium salt and pour it in, use your hand or a new scrub brush and scrub the tank with the salt, then rinse all the salt out with hot water. Salt residue won't harm fish at all, most fish actually do better with a little of this type salt in the water. Also freshwater aquarium salts are great for cleaning decorations, rocks and such for the tank, that's why I'm recommending you use some of this to scrub any soap residue out. What ever you do, never use bleach in a tank, any residue left behind from the bleach will be even more toxic than the soap. Good luck.

Be sure to rinse thourghly. As long as you put the usual water cleaner in the tank and let it run for a while without the filter than it should be fine. I have washed our tanks out with dish soap and water and we have never had any problems.

I see no reason that you can't reuse the fish tank as long as all the soap residue is out of it. Rinse....rinse....rinse. Cold water usually works better.

Rinse it really well, fill it and get some .29 goldfish. Toss them in there. If they live your good to go.
I recommend Plecostamus as good tank cleaners. I had one I got when he was about three inches long, and he was over a foot long when I sold the 55 gal tank a few years later. I included him in the sale.
It's a great hobby, but large tanks with large fish take allot of care. People don't know that.
Good luck with this.

rinse it very well and when you fill the tank up I would leave it run for a good week before putting any fish back into it.

Check all your levels and clean it extremely well with hot water before even thinking about putting fish back in it. Let it sit for a few days after cleaning before cycling it and monitor the behaviour. It should be fine but you never know.

yes, just make sure that the tank is completely clean. No leftover residue. Also, monitor your fish, if they act strange in the tank, then stop immediately.
