So after I took apart the rocks to get the bristleworm out of my tank I discovered the back of one of my live rocks just COVERED in this white spongey stuff... is this good?

Appears to be a sponge - just like the yellow sponge on the same rock. Nothing to be worried about, and these are filter feeders, so they even remove small particles of food in the tank, so there's less for you to clean.

You're going to find tons of things living on the rock - and not just in the near future. I found a bristlestar 4 months after I put live rock into a new tank. And in a tank I've had going for years, and moved 2 years ago, I found three of what look like spiney oysters growing this year.

Here are some links that may help you identify some of the things you're going to be seeing:

Sometimes I feel like setting up a tank of just rock and see what I get if there aren't any fish to eat them.

yes it looks like sponge. Now leave the rock alone. LOL Its a great looking rock I wish I was able to get such nice looking piece. Actually its great that you are paying such close attention to it. If your like me you will be or have been sneaking a peek after all the lights are out by using a flash light. hehe I just have to know about everything in the tank.

Enjoy
