In general, pond plants grow like weeds, and that is often why they are in the pond in the first place... People often realize the plant is growing way too quickly and overtaking their tanks, and then release them into nearby ponds. If you want to try it, soak the plants in a 10%-20% bleach solution for 3-5 minutes to kill all the snails, bacteria, and other hitchhikers... Rinse the bleach off of the plants, and add them to your tank, but be prepared to do a lot of trimming...

You can after killing bacteria etc like the above post mentions. I wouldn't, myself because you don't know what kind of pollution that pond receives, or the species of plant may be hazardous to your fish.

i wouldent just to be safe because all the bacteria on the plant can harm your fish i know this for a fact because i talk a plant from my pond and put it in my tank and all mt $100.00 fish dided. :( and after that i went to the pet store and told me how and why they dided!

Yes, if the plant is not protected, you are not taking it from a nature reserve or national park.

Be sure to wash the plants throughly so that any worms/parasites/plant leeches don't get into your tank.

yeah you can but you have to do some research on what your grabbing up. also the risk of disease runs pretty high when doing this. but it can be done if your cautious and pay good attention to your tank.
