I've had this fish for over a year, I've not seen any more in the pet shop to get the name of it and the pet shop staff didn't know when i described it to them. Ive looked it up and i think it looks similar to a pitbull pleco but i cant find any that are exactly the same as this one. Does anyone know exactly what species of pleco this is? Any info would be great, thankyou.

Possibly a species of Garra (Garra rufa maybe?). See photos: http://www.aquanet.de/objimages/200405091758163-hauptbild-090520041802171081.jpg , http://www.psorijaza.net/garra_rufa_en.html ,

It might help to know the size, although it appears small from comparing the fish to the gravel. The Garra (also called the doctor fish for removing rough, dead skin from people with psoriasis),is actually a type of minnow, despite having the barbels which makes them look more like catfish or botia.
NOTE: The well defined scales on your fish would eliminate plecos and corys/brochis which tend to have more "armor-like" scales, and a pleco should have an adipose fin (small, fatty fin without rays or spines behind the dorsal fin):

There might desire to be a pocket sized e book as you have defined which you would be waiting to take alongside with you which of them might help you perceive with the help of an illustrated image the species of fish which you seize, i could attempt a sturdy bookshop such as Waterstones, or possibly even the library, then earlier you're taking the e book back you need to photocopy the correct pages. i don't have that hardship regrettably, simply by fact the place I fish on my community stretch of the Bridgewater Canal, all I ever seem to seize is bloody perch!

its not a Corydora as i breed them. tail is too flat to be a plec also.
could be some kind of a cross breed? but that might be a bit far fetched!
can you remember where you got the fish from? if it came from a shop, take in a picture of it and they may be able to look through their books. for a shop to have fish in their tanks, they must know the names of the fish they are ordering in !

I was looking on yahoo.com and found a CORY GREEN at looks like him, but ur fish has smaller fins and little to no whiskers. Maybe He can be a highbred (mix breed) or a deform looking Cory either way he's one-of-a-kind and they are the best ones.

I'd go with K K's answer and say it's a color morph of the chinese algae eater (Gyrinocheilus aymonieri). This one is a blotched individual of the cream colored variety available for some time now. The angle of the camera shot made it look shorter and stouter than its more normal slender body.

I don't know what it is but it's kinda cute! Have you tried Googling the Pitbull Pleco and see what comes up? Maybe the pictures will be similar to your fish :)

Definitely NOT a brochis splendens or a gold green cory.
But I can't i.d. the fish for you. I've raised lots of brochis spawns and none of them look like your fish.
Great quiz for the fish experts on YA!

Sure I can. There's no doubt about it. It's a juvenile Brochis splendens . When mature it will take on more the shape of your typical Cory cat, which are their "cousins." It can easily be confused with the Corydoras macropterus, the only real visible difference being the addition of an extra dorsal fin. Did whoever you got the fish from not know this?
