I had some albino catfish before but they got ill and died all in a short space of time. I had a fair amount of tonic salt in my tank... Would this be why or might it have been something else?

I have had a tank set-up for over a year nd I have had various platy fish since January. However, at least four of my six fish are acting lethargic and are floating near the bottom or near the top of the tank. Two of these fish were born in this tank and so they are not old. The water parameters are great - no detectable levels of ammonia, nitrate -- nitrate levels are minimal and ph is 7.0.

My only thought is that two Fridays ago I fed them a vacation tablet. When I got up the next day to leave for my trip the tablet was gone. Now, I do have a 5 " catfish in the tank, but even so the tablet was supposed to last for a few days longer. Could they have overeaten and gotten sick? Shouldn't they have recovered by now if this was the case?

I've moved two of the fish to a treated hospital tank but I am afraid that the other tank needs to be treated. I am using something for swim bladder disease but I really don't know what they have as there are no noticeable signs of usual fish disease.

Today I picked out a tank, added water, added gravel, and added a conditioner. I'm starting a Betta tank and I'm picking one out tomorrow. I'm going to get Hikari Bio-Gold and Freeze Dried blood worm for food. Not to mention some aquarium salt. Which I'll add tomorrow. I'm going to add Silk Plants tomorrow aswell.. I already have a soft net and a filter running in there. If It gets cold, I'll leave on the light. Once I get my fish I'm going to let if float to equalize the temperature. Then I'm going to add a little of my water to the tub it's in. Does that soudn like a good start? Please Critique.

Please help! I have a 20 gallon aquarium, ive had it for almost two weeks now. I tired putting mollies in my tank three times..i went throught nine mollies (dalmation and ballon) but they all died. I took my water to the pet store, and they said the nitrates and ammonia were at 0 (obviously..it was brand new) and the ph was 7.0....just fine. I keep the temp between 78-80 degrees. I use water conditioner, and added aquarium salt. The pet store told me to get some Buenos Ares Tetras, and if they died, they knew something was very wrong. The tetras have been dong great for a week now, as are my live plants and my algae eater whom i have had since the beginning (he is the only survivor!)

Today, I bought mollies again i hopes that I could have one last shot with them...however, the male dalmation seems to already be dying :( For the last 6 hours he has been just sitting on the bottom of the tank, barely moving, and not eating. What's wrong? :( He has no spots...so its not Ich. PLX HELP!

I recently bought a pair of guppies, the female of which was pregnant. It has been a couple of weeks since i bought her and i would like to know what the gestation period is, and what other things i should know about the care of the parents and the infants. If the care is just the general plan for livebearers, than i have everything available: new tank for babies, place for the parents to go, etc.

Please people, if you don't know don't tell me you don't know, and don't give me more random information (ex: answering my question with questions.

I have a new 28 gal. tank that I'd like to put angelfish in. I would like to have a pair, but I'm afraid of accidentally ending up with 2 males. Is it a good idea to get two at a time? Also, I would like to have some neon rainbows or dwarf gauramis, would it be best to get the angels first or the others? I also used to have a mystery snail and loved it. Would it be appropriate to add one to this combo of fish? Thanks! (any extra info about these fish is appreciated).

I seen my two mystery snails getting to know each other, if you know what i mean, about two days ago. I was wondering if anyone can tell me how long after the mating scene she should lay her eggs. I keep looking around the tank (above the water line) and I have not found any eggs.
facts: mystery snails, 55 gallon tank with three inches of glass above water line, been treating for ich with higher temp of 89f, thats all I can think of to tell you
thank you in advance.

Sometimes they won't move for ten minutes at a time. Should i be worried? They still have a good appetite. Everything else seems normal.

I was thinking about getting a fish. I would like a fish that doesn't take too much care, can live in a bowl or tank, and, isn't too big. I was thinking about:

Black Molly

Fancy Goldfish

Tiger Barb Tettras

Which one do you think would be best for me? Thanks, and, 10 POINTS to whoever has the best answer! Thanks again,

This seems EXTREMELY unlikely, but so does the idea that my guppy has stored sperm for 5 months. My tank has not had a male guppy for a very long time (5 months) but the remaining female guppy has a large dark spot in the back and is looking very chubby. The only male live-bearer in the tank is a swordtail. There are no other guppies. Period. The male I had in there died and I did not replace him because I put a male betta in there and I was afraid the long tail and fins of a male guppy would make the betta want to fight. The betta gets along fine with the other fish, to my delight! Anyway, the other fish in the tank are either egg-laying types or else swordtails. I've never heard of different species mating, but I've also never heard of a guppy storing sperm that long. Other possibility is that she isn't prego and that the spot I'm seeing is a backed-up colon or some other freaky thing = ) What do you think?

Seeing as how they are found in the wild, and no one seems to know what fish they are hybrids of, then how do we know that they are actually hybrids?

I bought two a week ago and they seemed to adjust quickley, for the last few days the smaller one has been doing circles on the side of my tank. For the last few hours it's been going steedy doing circles next to the glass. Is something wrong or is it just what they do?

I'm getting a betta fish tomorrow. What types of bettas are the most attractive? Should I get a male or female? I know males make bubble nests which I think is so gross and not very appealing. Also, would my betta fish do well with no plants or rocks in the bowl?

I have 2 Fancy Goldfish, 1 gold and 1 shubunkin. Both fish have marks on them which look like blood bruises. The gold one is also spending a lot of time at the water surface not gasping for breath just floating just beneath water level. they both look well and are showing no signs of illness. I have noticed on close inspection that they have white spot, they have had this before and with treatment it cleared up quickly. The water looks clean and is regulary changed I only feed flakes once a day. I have noticed a the bottom of the filter tube is brown coloured.
