its a golden barb.. you cant tell due to the green coloration on the golden body...

It's out of focus, so hard to make out. I would agree with "not a platy" because it doesn't have the upward turned mouth.

Could you include an approximate size, or a better photo? (I know, my fish don't stay still to have their photos taken either!)

ADDITION: Have you looked up ticto or odessa barbs? (going by the spot on the tail) Tetras would have an adipose (fatty tissue) fin behind the dorsal: http://www.plantgeek.net/images/glossary/adipose.jpg

It is not a platy, i have some in my tank as we speak, it looks like it may be a form of goldfish, but you should try and get a little better pic of it

its a cherry barb look at the red fins and slitly dark line on its body, check out the pic, bec

it is a golden barb i sell them in my pet store they look close to a platy but have different fin structure.

no, it;s not a platy, they don't habve tails like that and the body shape is way off. It looks to me like a tetra...
