I have had a tank set-up for over a year nd I have had various platy fish since January. However, at least four of my six fish are acting lethargic and are floating near the bottom or near the top of the tank. Two of these fish were born in this tank and so they are not old. The water parameters are great - no detectable levels of ammonia, nitrate -- nitrate levels are minimal and ph is 7.0.

My only thought is that two Fridays ago I fed them a vacation tablet. When I got up the next day to leave for my trip the tablet was gone. Now, I do have a 5 " catfish in the tank, but even so the tablet was supposed to last for a few days longer. Could they have overeaten and gotten sick? Shouldn't they have recovered by now if this was the case?

I've moved two of the fish to a treated hospital tank but I am afraid that the other tank needs to be treated. I am using something for swim bladder disease but I really don't know what they have as there are no noticeable signs of usual fish disease.

Stay away from vacation feeders, they're lethal to your established tank

The only thing they do is ruin an esablished tank

You need to do a 50% waterchange right away, to save your fish, i doubt it that they ate it, but that it dissolved to fast and your fish are stressed

Hope that helps
good luck

Im pritty sure they cant contract a disease just from eating a vacation tablet. Like you said - they mustve over eaten. Dont feed them for the next day. How long are you going to leave for vacation. Fish can last about 4-5 days without food. You arent starving them. They are used to this because in the wild they are constantly looking for food and if they dont find any then they try the next day. So dont worry about it. If you are Going to go longer, have someone come over and feed your fish. btw - if your fish had swim bladder disease, they would have a hard time swimming. They would swim in circles.
