My tank is infested with white fluff! I get rid of it, and 2 days later its literally everywhere again. What is it and how do I get rid of it for good? There is SO much of it - way too much for some algae (if it IS algae) eating fish to eat!

Does anyone know a proper way to catch a mantis shrimp, or how fast they can be? I think I have this pest in my saltwater tank, eating my crabs and snails at night.

Yesterday, I put my male and female betta fish in together for almost a whole day. When I came back home from walking my dog(around mid-day) I saw the female had white stripes on her side. The male had already had a bubble nest when I put the female in. I left her in for a bit longer to be sure. I noticed the male was guarding the nest. The female was also digging in the rocks for something. The white lines on the female started to fade and I took her out. But... then the male kinda stopped guarding the nest. Did they breed? When will the babies hatch? I got baby fry food to be sure. I have never had baby fish before. Plz help.

I just got three new fish. There are all orange. Two are really small, one is a little bigger. One of the little ones has a black spot on it's tail and the big on has a dark orange spot on it's tail. They live with an african dwarf frog named Timmy. Timmy used to live with the goldfish Cosmo and Wanda, but they died.
So what should I name these three new fishies?

I think I have room for Driftwood but I'd like to save it for a last resort. I also have distilled water available but I'm not sure how to use it. And I'm not looking forward to any Chemicals.

I bought a 2.5 gallon tank and it has a filter but does it need a heater? I just realized that it didn't come with a heater. Thanks.

I have a 5 gallon saltwater setup for inverts only. The water was a little stagnant, so I put in a bubble stone, but really it's this piece of wood that creates bubbles. Anyway, since I put it in, my little blueleg hermit crabs and a red colored hermit crab are like addicted to the bubbles. It's kind of weird. They go and sit on the rock ledge where the bubbles are coming up, and just sit there! The bubbles build up all over them and it's quite hilarious. This morning I noticed that the red hermit crab was being eaten by my cleaner shrimp. I wonder if the bubbles killed him? Is it possible to be "overoxygenated"?? Even inverts?

they seem to live in the gravel, they are small and look like tiny bloodworms although they are only maybe 5mm long and as thin as a hair.

when cleaning the gravel I can see them in the bucket of waste water and there must be thousands of them.

A small ammount can always be seen floating around in the water, which my gouramis seem to like eating.

however i want to know what they are and how to get rid of them. Any help apreciated.

I have a overhead filter.
I am very confused if its bio bacterial growing or is it algae.
I did add bio bacteria when i cycle the tank.
The tank is now about 2 months old.
The filter's wall is surrounded by brown, tiny particals.
The area where water flows out of the filter(waterfall) is covered by brown particals too.
In simple words my whole inner filter is covered by brown particals., including the bacterial house.
My walls of the tank is crystal clear.
The water is also crystal clear.
I on a PL light around 8 hours a day.
But it appers a little brown which i believe is due to the drift wood.
Can someone tell me how to identify bio bacteria and algae bloom?

A friend gave us a fish that is called Jack London (it's the kind of fish he is, not his name). I've been trying to find information about that kind of fish and I've come up with nothing. (Google Jack London and you get page up and page down with links for the author.)

I'm hoping for links to pages about the fish or at least more information about him.

He suddenly turned aggressive and killed 4 other fishes and that's why our friend gave him to us. Now I want to know more about him so that I can give him the right treatment and decide what fish tank I want to put him in.

I'm worried about my Beta. Every summer when it gets hot, he seems to get really skraggly fins. When it cools down, he buffs up again. I recently put a heater in the tank. His usually long fins now look like they were clipped. He shares a tank with 3 goldfish a catfish, algae eater, etc. The water temp right now is 80 F. I just also noticed a few white specks hanging on his scales and what looks like a small worm coming out of one of his gills. The other fish are fine, and no new fish have been introduced into the tank in about 3 months. He is also hanging near the bottom of the tank instead of swimming around like usual.
