A friend gave us a fish that is called Jack London (it's the kind of fish he is, not his name). I've been trying to find information about that kind of fish and I've come up with nothing. (Google Jack London and you get page up and page down with links for the author.)

I'm hoping for links to pages about the fish or at least more information about him.

He suddenly turned aggressive and killed 4 other fishes and that's why our friend gave him to us. Now I want to know more about him so that I can give him the right treatment and decide what fish tank I want to put him in.

The friends insist that it is "Jack London" she's no help at all here. And I know it's not Jack Dempsey my dad has a couple of those.

How about this... I've taken a (blurry) photo of him. Maybe that might help.

He's slimmer that the Jack Dempseys that I have seen. The dark stripe sometimes changes into "tiger" stripes instead.

The fish is a dwarf Cichlid of the Kribensis group. And I believe it's a male. If it killed some fish in your friend's aquarium,it's because it was establishing a territory, and possibly a spawning site.
The genus name of this group of fishes is Pelvicachromis, and you should be able to find the correct species name without too much trouble. Here's a hint,"Jack London" is not the right name for this fish, it's probably Pelvicachromis Pulcher. These are not aggressive fish if they are kept in a tank that's large enough for them to establish a territory. I'd consider an uncrowded thirty gallon"long" tank to be the minimum size for these fish.
Do a little research into these fish, you may want to establish a "species" tank with just one pair, they are fascinating fish to watch(and not too difficult to spawn).

People make up names all the time. Sucker fish? These fish don't exist. If you can't find a cichlid named Jack London, it is because it doesn't exist and someone is making up names. Your friend has just been misinformed and she and whomoever told her this is wrong. But, this is, at least, an African cichlid, probably malawi, but I'm having a difficult time placing it exactly. It could possibly be because it is a juvenile and still hasn't developed mature coloring. But, here is just about the most comprehensive page on african cichlids you can find. See if you can locate it on here.

EDIT: I did a little research on PeeTee's fish, Pevicachromis Pulcher, and it just could be it. The colorings in this link won't match yours because of the lighting being reflected, but I think the key determining factor is the spots on the tail and the strips on the edge of the dorsal fins. http://www.aquahobby.com/gallery/e_krib.php

I really can't tell what kind of fish it is, looks kind of like some type of african cichlid. To start though I think the common name is wrong, there are no fish with the common name of Jack London. Your best bet if you don't get an answer here is to go to a cichlid forum and post this same question and picture there, someone there is bound to give you a good idea of what it is.
