Charlot
i have 3 large fake plants, driftwood, tons of gravel with marbles, and lots of seashells.

she like to hide under the driftwood where you cant even see her. she just sits there moving her fins back and forth. really sad if you ask me. doesnt help that most of the other fish dont like her.

Do you know for a fact that the platy is a female? She may be pregnant and about to give birth - they'll usually try to find a place where they can hide to do this so the fry aren't eaten right away, especially if you have other fish.

Also check to see that it doesn't have clamped fins or obvious spots on the body, which may indicate she's sick (parasites or infection: http://www.klsnet.com/files/fishchart.htm ) and is hiding for that reason.

well, it can be for a few reasons but theses are the most likely

1-she was giving birth and wanted a peaceful place to do it...

2-the male fish have been chasing her and are trying to hide...

both my females platies hide when they are having babies and after they have been chased by the lead male

even the other male gets chased by that lead one and hides sometimes

well i think in 1 more day he will grow on you so i have 2 say..... put a light in the tank so then he will not be in the dark and you can see him or make more dark spots for him.... like adding real plant and casles put watch out for sharpe parts on the casles couse that will cut off their scales.
