store says its ok as long as I dont put more than 1 of these and 4-5 fish of 2-3 inches long in there with it true? other four all compatable as no other tangs

i have a small aquarium and i want to put a water frog, small albino cory, and an algae eating shrimp. but what should i feed the frog? can it just eat regular fish food? and i have some baby fish food so can the cory eat that? and does the shrimp just eat what falls to the bottom? thank you sooo much!

My black mystery snail laid eggs on the filter, I have turned it off for now. any suggestions on what I can do? If I move them will they be ok? Please help, I have no idea.

"Hi i miss out the name of the filter. my question was to point at the Vortex theses filters are aim at just polishing.
I no everything elses about fishkeeping i have a ehiem pro3 runing on my 6x2x2 tank. the vortex seem good has they help to polish the water.
run along side for about 6 hours everyweek.

i have one pack of shrimp eggs and i don't know what to do with them. i was thinking of just emptying the contents in my aquarium but i want them to hatch and do not want to buy the shrimpery container.

I have a Electric blue striped cichlid,he's about 3 inches.He killed two other cichlids,so I got a big 5 inch Oscar to join him in the tank.This mean cichlid chased the other bigger fish-it looked like they were spinning around in a tornado.The Oscar lost and was wounded badly,so I removed the mean one temporarily.Is there any hope of keeping him with other fish?or will he forever be mean?

I just recently purchase two angle fish. One is a koi and the other was regular(unsure of name) but it had grey stripes running through the body. I notcided that after a few days the grey stripes started turning black, and it was hiding out in the back of the tank looking not so good. It eventually died after a few days. My marble koi is doing GREAT, very alert and attentive to his surroundings and eats VERY WELL!! And so are the other fish too!! So I just got another Koi but a white koi with grey hues on the fins and back side. They now are turning black too and Im concerned that Im going to loose this one too!! My marble Koi bosses it around to show off his position in the tank, so it has no intrest in other fish and it just kind of glides around looking all sad and stuff. It eats and seems alert...but it doesn't explain the sudden change in color from the time I bought it. Can anyone explain whats going on, and why these fishes grey hues start turning black after I buy them?

I am a new aquarium hobbyist and after much debate, I've decided to go ahead and set up a freshwater tank (salt water tanks, although beautiful, seem like alot of work for someone new like me!). I guess I'm really looking for ideas and suggestions. I love goldfish and they seems pretty easy to maintain, but what other compatible fish can I add to my tank for variety? Also, do I need to purchase "cleaner" fish for a freshwater tank (like catfish or shrimp)?

I know cichlids like to hide and I want to take out the ornamental decorations in my tank and add big rocks...do i buy these from a pet store or can i just go get rocks from outside and wash them off then add them ???

I change his water daily, I have a filter installed, nice aquarium for himself only, good food brand, good conditions.... but he barely swins and stays at the bottom of the tank all the time. I'm worried he's dying. What should I do? If he's suffering, should I end it for him? No fish vets around and I have only had him for a month now so he's still young.

hey everyone out there.i would like to start a saltwater tank and ive decided to go with fish only with live sand and live rock soo my qestion is i want a list of everything i need to do this . i dont want to ask the guy at the exotic fish store he might try to sell me something i dont need but i just need a list . thank you

are they the only cichlids that have blue and black stripes? i bought an assorted cichilds at petsmart and wasn't sure which one it is. it looks really close to the picture in the link but darker. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kenyi_cichlid

The description at the store also said that it was south africa and it grows to 4-6''. What cichild do i have?

My tiger barb seems to be swimming around with his mouth open as wide as possible...he hasnt close it for a few hours noe...I never noticed him doing this before today...is this normal? Is something wrong with him? :( Please help!

Would i be able to do this? Buy a 2.5 gallon aquarium kit with a whisper filter, heater and hood equipped etc. Could i cut to fit a plexiglass divider, drill holes through it, silicone it to the acrylic tank, and house 2 bettas ? one on each side? The filteration and heat i dont see a problem since there are going to be fairly large sized holes (1/2 inch big). Enough for easy flow. The only thing that i see a problem with is the bettas are always going to be flaring and going nuts because there in the same tank with a see through glass between them. What should i do for this? Is this healthy at all? Will they get used to it? I already know how to control the internal filter's current so it wont be so strong on one side of the bettas home. So will this work out? Im also going to be getting a 5 gallon tank that will be with live plants heavily planted housing 1 betta and 3-4 cories. I dont want to divide that because i dont want the divider taking away from the beauty of the tank.

Hi has anyone uses theses filters? for polishing the water.
I here you can use them for short times only 1day every month for 5 hours keeps the water clean.

This morning when I woke up to feed my fish. I noticed my Rainbow Shark at a whitish streak over his head or maybe that is his flesh. I don't know what is happening to him and a recently this morning changed my carbon filter after my shock.

This happened to me before with my Gourami and the Gourami died after 2 weeks or so, after I tried to find information on it.

My guess right now is that it is a disease called Hole in the Head but I am not exactly sure.

Can anyone suggest or give me information right now? Is this caused by a disease or is he scrapping his head around the aquarium?


He is housed with 7 clown loach, 3 angelfish, and 4 corydoras in a 180 Gal.
