Well, in case any one else has a similar problem out there...here is an update: His mouth still won't close :( I talked to an aquarist who said either A,) He got into a fight with another fish who broke his jaw B.) He dislocated his jaw, and told me to try and pop it back into place...or C.) He has mouth fungus :( I slightly touched his jaw, and his mouth can easily move up and down...I don't think it was dislocated. i am currently treating him for fungus...but I dont think he is eating again yet. :::crosses fingers:::I sure hope the fungus medicine works, that is my last hope!

He may have a piece of gravel stuck in his mouth.Very carefully, catch him in a net, place him on a paper towel, and gently hold him. Then ,look in his mouth.if there's a piece of gravel, use tweezers to gently take it out. You'll have to dip him in the water( in the net) every few seconds so he won't die,but it should work.Good luck.

Edit: Gee,I don't know what to tell you.Maybe take him to the aquarium store and ask them what they would recommend.Poor fish!
