They need to have saltwater for the best hatch rate. There's probably salt in the container if you bought the small bags. If you bought the tubes, there won't be.

You don't need a "hatchery" to raise them. The first time I hatched them, I used a plastic bowl (like the golfish bowls) that was over a liter in size, and used an airpump with an airstone. They hatched, and I raised them to adults. You could also use an clean soda bottle or large clear vase.

If you don't have the type with added salt, add a Tablespoon of non-iodized salt to 2 cups of conditioned water (chlorine and chloramine can kill the baby shrimp). Sea salt is preferred, but I have hatched them using just rock salt.

No, they're BRINE shrimp, the definition of brine being water saturated or impregnated with SALT, so no, they will not hatch in your freshwater aquarium. But I urge you to follow this link, this is how I hatch mine, even though I have saltwater,http://www.reeftime.com/diy-reef-projects/diy-other/diy-brine-shrimp-hatchery/9.htm

I have No idea :) But it is cool though. Brine shrimp are supposed to be very picky about their salt content in order to survive that long. I have had them survive that long in salt water but not in fresh. In fresh they live about 2 or 4 days tops for me.

no, as brine shrimp are saltwater animals and will not survive in freshwater.

Shrimp as far as I know are saltwater crustaceans so they will not survive in fresh water.

SALT WATER!!!!!!!
you have to get salt water!!
if you really don't want to get the hatchery and really want them to hatch in your fish tank, you'll have to add a LOT of salt in there.
It'll kill all your fish though.....
