Warm or cold temperature?

It could be either one, depending on the species of fish. Freshwater just means that there's not much (if any) salt in the water. So this would include any fish that live in rivers, streams, lakes or ponds from anywhere in the world.

If you have a particular fish or group of fish you're interested in keeping, see these websites for information on the temperatures they need:

freshwater fish can live under ice it very cold regions, or in a very hot summer lake... they are adaptable. I guess it would depend on what kind of fish specifically could survive in specific temperatures.

depends on if they are Goldfish, tropical fish, or other...

I have seen a pond of freshwater fish freeze and when it thawed the fish swam away....they are cold blooded.

Tropical fish must have warm water! Otherwise they are susceptible to fungus' such as ick.

Fish are cold blooded so they can adjust to the water temperature. But most just live in water at room temperature.

All of the fish listed in the first post will grow far too big for the 10 gallon tank they would live in, they will probably be longer than a 10 gallon... You could try any small Cichlid like some Dwarf Cichlids... Nosoop4u

Freshwater fish live in both climate. Fish such as goldfish live in colder water but fish such as bettas, tetras and cichlids live in the warmer strata of the fish tank.

the best temperature is to just put the water you are going to put in the tank in a bottle for a day or two, then pour it in. It gives it time to regulate to room temperature.
