I have 3 glowlight tetra's. They're pretty, but their eyes aren't BRIGHT orange like in the pet store. I have dark substate and I purchased a light tube made for subdued lighting. Any other suggestions.

my betta fish's water is very dirty, could I possibly just change his water by putting tap water in it without letting it sit overnight? I have the water conditioning, to make the tap water safe. I just really want to get him out of this water.

Are there any household items (fruits, veggies, etc.) that are good for, specifically betta, fish to eat? I also have to albino dwarf frogs that I have pellet food for but they mostly eat the fish flakes. Are there any grocery foods I can chop up and put in the tank for all of them or just the fish?

I set up a 10 gallon fish tank for goldfish. I put an orange and black oranda and a bubble-eyed goldfish in the tank. Two days later the oranda got ich. I treated the tank and then the ich went away. About a week later both fish had the ich. I ended up taking the fish out of the tank and the oranda ended up dying. The bubble-eyed recovered and did not show any ich for 48 hours. With the tank, I cloroxed the gravel, plants, air line, and everything else and bought a new tank. I also replaced the oranda with another from the same store. A week later the new oranda died and the bubble-eyed and the red cap oranda have ich again. I have never had this much trouble with a goldfish tank! HELP!!!!!!

I got 2 of them 3 years ago and one almost a year. When I got the two fish, I had them growing in a ten gallon tank. They didn't seem to be that big until I got the 3rd one. I seen how much space they had, so I was looking for bigger tank. The 3rd one didn't have anything to do with the others. It sat in the back alone since I got it. Months have passed, I finally got a 60 gallon tank. I set it up and waited for the water temp's right then put them in and the water from the 10 gallon was pour into it also. It's filled up to 1/2 way, just to get them used it before adding more water. Nothing new except more gravel and more air bubbles. Oh yea! one new fake plant , same kind it already have. Why are they sitting in the bottom corner and not moving except it tilt itself every now and then to look down or up. Even the 3rd one had join them. You would think "more space" they be everywhere? Specially the 1st two, that chased eachother everyday for past 3 years. It's been 5 days now.

My fish won't do it all the time, but every so often, I will find it upside down just "sitting" there. If I tap the tank, it will move again, but I'm afraid that it's something worse. Help?

My tiger barbs and my red tail shark all eat off the gravel. The barbs will eat it off the top of the water and in mid-water and on the gravel. The red tail only seems to eat off the bottom from the food that's on the gravel. Is that normal? Is that ok? Will it hurt them if they are eating old food that has been in there for a couple of days?

I have 3 koi in a 70 gal. tank. They are fairly small right now only about6 inch each. Yesterday one of them some how managed to get lodged into the "tree" stump ornament that was in the tank. We think it happened early yesterday and we didnt find it until late last night. He has gashes on him and is missing half of his tail and his anal fin along with the majority of his scales missing on one side. He did survive the night which i really think is a miracle but I am worried that he may still die. We have put some Melafix in the tank and added a little salt to reduce stress. He seems to be doing...okay I guess. The main thing is that now where his scales came off is like a fuzzy looking something. Could this be him healing or an infection? Here is a pic to try and better explain what I am talking about. Any help on what else we should do to make him feel better would be great

My friend has recently set up a tropical tank, cycled etc and finally bought some fish. He has bought some neon tetras and guppies but also 2 red crabs. I have no experience with crabs but these do not look happy - they are sitting still at the bottom of the tank (4 days) and occasionally fall on their backs. You can see the under section of the shell moving up and down.
Is this because they need aquarium salt in the water ?
Will aquarium salt be bad for the fish ?
Please help !!

I got my Betta about a week ago, and as soon as i set up his tank i fed him 3 pellets he only ate One and the rest sank to the bottom, now i only try giving him one and he swims quickly up to it brings it into his mouth and then spits it out... he looks relitivly Healthy he swims and moves alot.. but then i noticed he might have FIN ROT!!!!!!! his fins dont look damaged in anyway he just had black on them but its hard to tell because he has a dark face.. so it might be just his Colouring?? Anyways what can i feed him other than pellets? i read that bettas only eat pellets when they are STARVING.. i know there is bloodworms and shrimp brines? but that stuff constipates them and are only treats? right?... Oh and hes not constipated i know that forsure... Also how can i treat this possible fin rot? i read that a bit of Aquarium salt works.. but is that even true?

In my aquarium I had fish to lay eggs; and, I didn't realize that if not fertilized they would grow fungus, which they did. What do I need to do? I have vacuumed the gravel, but yet there seems to be quite a bit of the fungus floating in the water. The water seems to clear up after the filter catches up, but is there a treatment that I need to put in the tank or should I do a complete water change?
