There would be no problem with another Jack Dempsy, but I'd go with the convict for variety.
I've kept both with other fish in a 30 g tank with no problems.

Two Jack Dempseys will fight, especially in a tank that size. Your current Jack Dempsey will out grow your 30 gallon very shortly any way. Go with the Convict, but only one,and try to find one that's large enough to avoid being beaten-up by the Jack,

Your tank is too small for another large fish. It's at its bioload limit and getting another fish would cause it to go from overstocked to extremely overstocked, but if you're set on getting one, definitely the convict.

go with a Convict. You will not have enough room for another jack.
