have you tried different types of food? does he check his food out? or completely ignore it? try very small amounts of live krill or frozen bloodworms....i give my betta a semi squashed mosquito every once in a while and he loves it when they squirm on the surface before he chomps down. Got fruit flies? maybe he's catching those if they get too close. They do eat bugs in the wild... mine will get a good leap to catch his food.

I don't know what the answer is, but I wish I did. My betta has not eaten in about 13 days!!! I've tried different types of food, increased his water temperature. He doesn't seem to be ailing - still relatively active. I haven't tried any live food yet. Will see if I can catch some!

Bettas can be omniverous. If you have algae or plants, he may be "snacking between meals." Don't spend your hard earned cash on a vet in this case. If it looks stressed try adding a pinch of sea or aquarium salt. It might do the trick - Most Live bearers need small amounts to stay healthy.

Fish can go for very long times without food, with no visible ill affects. If you're sure his water is top quality, try some live foods, like mosquito wigglers,or brine shrimp. Some times they like a moving target. Another thing you could try is a "nightlight" on a timer, near his container to attract some small flying insects to serve as live food,

Try other types of foods. He may be a picky eater.

Although, it sounds to me like he may be depressed. Try playing some classical music (or try all different types) right near his bowl to perk him up a little.

That's highly unlikely, or he would have been dead already. He may be eating when you're not looking.
