I had dwarf frogs. They seem to either be super active or they hang out in one location. As for cleaning the tank it is essential that the water is the nearly the exact same temperature. Remember frogs are cold blooded and it is more difficult for them to regulate there body temperature. So if the water there were in was hotter than the water in the clean tank they probably went in to shock. Also many aquatic animals are sensitive to chemicals found in tap water. I found this page someone posted and if you scroll down a bit they have posted some tips on caring for these frogs.

They are relatively popular aquarium pets so you might also be able to find a book about caring for them if you want something more in depth.

As a general rule of thumb, NEVER EVER pour cold or hot water on any fish or amphibian. The shock alone can kill them. It is very important that with tropical fish and frogs that they are never put into an environment that colder than 72 degrees or hotter than 82 degrees. Secondly, did you use water conditioner to remove the chlorine from the water before putting the frog back into the aquairium?
