Okay, for a 10 Gallon aquarium, what would be the BEST kind of Freshwater Fish and please explain a little why that particular fish would be the best please. Our Goldfish have all died and we really have NO luck with them SO, perhaps we may even try warm water fish? Any help is appreciated, God bless and thank you all! :)

Has anyone ever had trouble with artificial plants in aquariums? We've been keeping Goldfish in a 10 Gallon aquarium for months and months but we have NO luck. So I was wondering, what could be the problem? Can anyone explain the "Nitrogen Cycle" to me please? And if Fish do bite off pieces of Artificial Plants, would that hurt them or kill them? If anyone can be of some assistance it is very appreciated. God bless and thank you very much!

OK because of so many great answers I separated the gold fish from the cichlids. And what about the corydora does he go with the goldfish or do I keep him with the texans? And the peacock which of the 2 tanks does he go in. I think my texans are having a love affair...they are always together. I know I have a lot of questions but I messed it all up and need help so please try to answer as much as you can , I really appreciated it. Now also at the end of my plastic plants the metal stem is starting to rust. The texans eat all the real plants so I went with plastic. Can the rust hurt the fish? should I remove them? the water is now quite good and clearing up nice.

ok, here's the situation.

i had a 10G with 5 guppies (2 M 3 F) 2 baby (one inch) albine BN plecos (they're moving into a 30G breeder once they hit around 2 inches) 1 big golden (apple? mystery?) snail and several (4?) other snails that seemed to have hitched rides from past plants. my tank is pretty heavily planted. about 4 days ago 30 guppy fry were added to the mix, but they're going back to the LFS once they enlargen.
i've dealt with ICK before with goldfish - got the tell-tale "salt" spots and managed to treat it with "RID ICK" or some such thing, but i had no plants at the time. now i'm seeing some (very few at this point) white spots on one or two of the guppies that are more like grains of powder than grains of salt. really really tiny compared with the ick on the goldies. Can the ick spots vary this much in size? could this be something else?
also, is there a treatment that i can use with plants/fry/inverts so i don't have to separate out everyone?

thanks in advance!

I've never seen my pearlscale do this before. He is lying on his back against the side of the tank, still breathing, and if I tap the tank, he'll move, but then he'll go back to the side of the tank. Do you think something's wrong with him, or is this normal goldfish behavior?

I dont think it is white spot as i have already treated the tank for whitespot as one of my other fish(Serpea Tetra) had the same then died. It is like a white growth what seems to eat away at the fish until it dies. I have a 20gallon setup. I do water changes every fortnight. I use stress zyme weekly. Does anyone have any idea what it could be and how to treat it PLEASE!

i started a new tank yesterday, and awoke to foam heaven. it is not coming over the top of the tank. it's a 5 gallon bow front tank. i used the water treatment that came with it, it's called aqua safe. the directions are as followed. it said to use 1 tsp for every 10 gallons, so i put in a 1/2 tsp. i smelled the filter and it kinda smells like old beer that has sat for a day or two. is there anyway i can get ride of the foam, or is it safe to put in fish? thank you

The other fish in the tank are fine. They are all mollies. The one starting breathing heavily last night, and today he is lying at the bottom of the tank struggling to breathe. There doesnt appear to be anything else wrong with him, no spots or rotting fins, etc. I am going to test the water quality, temp, aeration, etc. What could be wrong with him? What can I do to fix this?

I work at a local pets store in which we sellmale and female bettas. I do know how to properly sex bettas other than just the length and shape of fins. But my manager is obsessed with the thought that one of the bettas is a female by slight signs of a horizontal stripe. Has anyone ever seen a long finned female betta?

I just got some new fish and I think that it is time to upgrade the old ones to a new tank, but I don't want to pay more then about $50 for one. I am not really worried about the size right now, but I would like to have a choice in the ones I can select from.

Can someone help with some suggestions on where I can get a used fish tank from?

At least one of my fish has a tapeworm (white, flat, segmented poo.) I've heard that the Jungle dissolving tabs don't work, and that the praziquantel water treatments don't either. So I bought the medicated fish food, but they refuse to eat it, even when crushed and they *are* hungry. What should I do?

Angels are one of my favorite fish ever. I would like to keep a school of 5 in my new 120 gallon. I asked a question about it last night because I had 2 small ones in the 120 and 3 in a quarentine 10 gallon tank. The 10 gallon had a reading of ~.15 ammonia when I tested it and everything else checked out perfect in both tanks. In the last 24 hours I have lost 2 in the 10 gallon and 1 in the 120 to the spinning disease I guess. The one in the 120 is still spinning and seems to be trying to get food.

Anyway: I can return the 2 dead ones upstairs still and when I replace them is there a way to help prevent this from happening to them all again. I do have a 3.5'' angel in a 29 gallon that will be going to the 120 when the others are larger and I'm worried if this could happen to that one during the transfer?

Is this usually caused by the stress of a move or by something else? Please help. I love angels and don't like that I have to go through 5 in order to get 1 to survive
