At least one of my fish has a tapeworm (white, flat, segmented poo.) I've heard that the Jungle dissolving tabs don't work, and that the praziquantel water treatments don't either. So I bought the medicated fish food, but they refuse to eat it, even when crushed and they *are* hungry. What should I do?

Kanamycin and Levamisole are two active ingredients to look for. There is also a name brand Fenbend is supposed to be effective. PraziPro from Hikari contains praziquantel which is a good worm medication.

You can create your own medicated food by soaking freeze dried foods in a dilution of the medication in question to see if the fish will eat that. If your not sure how to manage that you may want to consult a vet for assistance. I would however continue trying to feed them the medicated food, maybe mixed with your normal flake at first? Worth a shot.

Best of luck with it.

theres a company that i beleive is called maradyl they sell OTC treatment for internal parasites. also if you haven't already add about 1 teaspoon per gallon of sea salt. this helps prevent and treat infections the natural way. you also can feed them fresh/thawed frozen peas without the shells. try to avoid frozen food like blood worms for a while until the infection has cleared up.
