I am a first time owner of 4 fancy guppies, one male and three females. I have not had them long, maybe a week. The females are the addition to the tank. I have 2 females with dark gravid spots and one with an amber colored spot. Are the two with the dark spot pregnant? Is there any chance they are not pregnant and naturally have a dark spot? I would appreciate any help. Thanks.

i have a 55 gallon tank and i had 2 oscars and 12 cichlids in it ..they were doing just fine.....so i went and bought a big plecostmus(sucker) put him in the tank and within 10 days all my cichlids are dead except one and the sucker died too my oscars are still holding on thank goodness...i realized they had a parasite or bad ich not sure which but i think it was ich anyhow, i quarantine all my fish that were left and have been treating them with warm water, salt , and the ich medicine...they are all looking better and are starting to eat again it has been 3 days now...the only concern i have is my oscars are a light tan color and they have red streaks running down their sides wondering what this is and how to help them?

i also need help with this......when i found the ich and quarantined my fish i was told to put bleach in the tank to kill out the ich which i did but now im wondering if i have to put freshwater back in the tank or how long does it take to get the bleach out or what

We have a 55 and 75 gal. aquariums with ammonia levels at .025 and a little above not quite .050 and the ph is around 8. We are still doing water changes at 30% usually 2 to 1 well water and tap water with a water softner. The guys at the place where we bought them say's for right now it is ok, but needs the levels to come down more and still do water changes but to be careful of taking all the good bacteria out. Now I am having problems with 2 of the smaller gold fish, one is always laying on the bottom and the other one got some of her fins tore up and all she does is stand on her tail and look away at who knows what. In the 75 gal. we have the 5 females and the other take is the males, they were becoming quite nasty with the others so we moved them to the 55 tank, the rest of the gold fish seem to be ok except for those two, what could be their problem, maybe pregnant? All are fancy goldies.

We just got a new fish tank and are having trouble maintaining the chemical balance. (10 gallon) We have several fish, but I just walked by the tank and one is, well, dead. I pick my 6 year old daughter up from school soon. How do I handle this? I know she will be disappointed, but how do I explain "life" and death in terms of a fish. People I can handle, but do I tell her fish go to heaven?

I recently got a fish for my birthday to keep at my dorm. It is a california fantail goldfish, and he'll sometimes sit at the bottom of the tank, just kind of sitting there. is there something wrong with him? he swims around just fine when he swims, he's active and swims around and around the tank. i'm just wondering if he's sleeping, or resting, or is he sick? we put a little bit of something called malachite green (it's actually called ick away, but it's for fish fungus, as it looked like he had some on his tail) could that make him lay on the bottom of the tank? and i know the stuff (the ick away it says it contains a known carcinogen on the bottle, adn i've washed my hands and worn gloves when we put it in the tank)is a cacinogen, but how dangerous is it if you got some of the water from the tank on you? some of the water leaked from the top of the tank when we were driving up to my dorm. we used the reccomended dose for the size tank, so i'm just wondering.

I have an tropical aquarium with 10 guppies and some of them have this infection and i don't know what is wrong. Some small transparent-white humps appeared on the surface of their skin and they seem not to eat well. I think is something serious because 2 already died. Please help!

I have a 70 gallon tank with African cichlids. I have 5 adult brichardi and 6 adult marlieri plus several young fish from both kinds. I have had them a little over a year and they have always been ok even when I forget to change any water. Today when I got home from class I saw that several of the fish are very slimey. It’s really thick and kinda white looking and all over them. They have never been sick before and I don’t know what it is or what to do. My favorite store is closed on Monday and the only other thing close is Petsmart and friends have said they don’t know much about fish. I did a water change Saturday and they looked fine but I didn’t look at them this morning because I was late for class. I don’t have a test kit to test anything and the store tests for me and always says everything is ok. The tank has crushed coral for gravel and loads of rocks and driftwood for the fish to hide in. Can anybody help me figure out what this is?

I have two fantails, one Oranda and one Plecostumus. I'm leaving for four days and a friend is coming to feed them while I'm away. Do they need to be fed once a day, or can it go to every other day? In addition to flake food they are also fed green peas.

I don't know what kind it is but for the past 3 weeks he has been laying either on his side or back on the bottom of the tank and sometimes he swims in sommersaults for awhile.

Can I make my own fish tank rocks and figurines out of clay? The type of clay you fire in a kiln and becomes ceramic. I am not finding much variety in underwater figurines and the ones I do find are overpriced.

My dad recently had to separate his tiger barb (he had 4 others but this one killed them) because it started nipping at the albino mollies. So now it is my room which is the coldest room in the house and the tank is a 5 gallon tank but no heater and the water is about 50-55 degrees and I want to know if it will survive in those temps I have the light semi uncovered to try and heat the water some for now.

How long should i keep the babies in there birthing tank?
How many is normal for a mooly to give birth too?
My Molly has given birth to 8 so far but one got caught in the filter and died, every now and then we check the tank so we can put them in there birthing tank, all seem very well and none have died so far that have been seperated.

the people I will listen to already know what tank i have. And what i want to ask is: Is there anything specific I need to do when moving my tank? Unfortunately we are moving about 2 hours away, and I am concerned about my tank. I planned on leaving about an inch or two in the bottom when i take it, to trap the bacteria, and take the rest of the water in 5 gallon buckets. so is there anything else I need to do? thank you all so much. My chromis thank you too

I had 9 golden fish in my tank they are about 1.5 to 2 '' in a tank of 50ltrs of water. I found 2 goldfish dead this morning after the solar eclipse. Similarly, 1 of my fishes was on the verge of dying and another died at the time of Lunar Eclipse. I did change the water and have medicated them with antibiotics as well. Is there any bad effect during eclipse? If so what can be done to prevent this? I also have a shark fish of 4 - 5'' length in the same tank.
