How many is normal for a mooly to give birth too?
My Molly has given birth to 8 so far but one got caught in the filter and died, every now and then we check the tank so we can put them in there birthing tank, all seem very well and none have died so far that have been seperated.

It's usually within 24 hours from start to finish, but it can spread out longer, even for several days.

Keep the babies away from other fish until they are large enough not to be eaten. I know that sounds duh obvious, but it's really the only real answer.

Mollies have been recorded with batches of over 100, but 25-50 is typical.

Sounds like you are coming along well. BEst of luck with them!

Mollies can have a few babies to lots and lots. It depends on how old she is and how many times she's been pregnant.

It can spread over a couple days.

I never had a birthing tank, I had a floating nursery. You put the mama in there, she has her babies and they fall through little slits in the bottom to a safe area where she can't get them. When mama is done, you put her back in the bigger part of the tank and remove the slitted divider so the babies have more room.

I left them in it until they were big enough to a) not get sucked into the filter and b) not get eaten by another fish. When you put them in the big tank just make sure there are lots of little plants and places for them to hide.

Molly can give birth from 5 to 20. Noted that I have read somewhere that she can hold on to the delivery if the environment doesnot look safe for the young born. I have 2 female mollies. One just gave birth after 1 day we bought her, but the other held on to the delivery until 1 month after we bought her. We have no male molly in the tank..
The babies should be raised in the separate tank until they reach the adult size - which is LONG.
