Can I make my own fish tank rocks and figurines out of clay? The type of clay you fire in a kiln and becomes ceramic. I am not finding much variety in underwater figurines and the ones I do find are overpriced.

i believe if you cover it in aquarium safe epoxy it should work

I have heard of people doing that, you just have to make sure everything (the clay, any paints you may use and EVERYTHING else) is food safe, like you would use if you were to make a plate or a cup.

No the clay could contaminate the water and make the fish die if you use a clay that is good for aquarium well do it but i wouldn't just in case.
