I just bought 2 suckers (I guess they are actually Otocinclus) with the idea that they clean my tank that already houses two goldfishes and a sharper clean by eating the algae. The pet store said that these are compatible with Goldfishes however when i did a bit of searching on the net, i get contradictory answers at various websites. Just in case they are incompatible, what happens if 1 small Otocinclus and two medium/large goldfishes be kept in a tank?

I also would like to know if i can put some water plants in a goldfish tank.

My ammonia is too high.. It is testing around 1 and my nitrate is at 10 what should I do? I don't feel that much..

My PH is good at 8.2 and my nitrite is good at 0..

Any suggestions?

My filters are pretty loud and you can hear the water which sounds like a waterfall, what can I do to reduce noise? It's the 2 tubes on the top of the tank which are clear and filter the water.

THANKS FOR THE HELP

I need someones help fast!! My BETA fish is so sick and I can't stop crying! His name is French Toast and he is the happiest friendliest beta I've ever had, but I think he is dying and it is all my fault! He was FINE until today.... I took him and transported him in the car to my new apartment. As soon as we got to the location I changed his water and everything. Not soon after did I notice a diffrence in his behavior. He looks like he is struggling to breathe... he sits at the top of the tank not moving and when I tap the tank he starts to sink down. The front of his face has turned a little red too... it's like he gave up and dosn't want to live. I don't want my friend to die on Christmas can anyone help me?? I'll try anything to help him!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I dont know what I did wrong but It's my fault

I have had a saltwater fishtank for About 4 years now. The tank is 110 Gallons. I change about 15 gallons a month and feed them everyday with 2 types of food. Dispite all of this my fish still die. One of my two yellow tangs died today. My other one is doing fine and i have a maroon Clownfish that i have had for 3 years who I suspect to be bullying my fish until they die. It also appeared that he was eating. I was leaving algae rubberbanded to filterhead. What is killing my fish? Thanks

Hi! I just bought a betta. I first purchased a tank that had a filter, but it was too strong -- the poor fish could barely swim (plus it had no cover -- bettas jump!). So I took it back and bought a nice hexagonal tank with a cover, and he seems much happier. However, the tank has a pump. I know bettas don't need a pump but I would like the water to stay clean. I've read quite a bit of information online concerning bettas, and unfortunately a lot of it is conflicting. Here are my questions.
#1. Do I need some bacteria in the tank for the fish?
#2. Without a filter, how often do I change the water? (Or should I get a filter add on?)
#3. Is there a more suitable (and affordable, like under $40) tank that I should look at purchasing?
#4. After filling the tank, little bubbles developed over everything and the sides of the tank. Are these just air bubbles or something I should be concerned about?

Thanks so much guys, I really appreciate it. I want to give my betta a happy home!

My daughter really wants an African Butterfly for her 60 gallon freshwater tank. One pets store said they are freindly to tank mates, while a friend said no way her heard they will eat ANYTHING that comes near them at the top of the tank and will fit in their rather large mouth. She has a guppie, a catfish, a Farlow (SP), a sucker fish, bambooshrimp, flounder and snails.

In my daughters 60 gallon freshwater tank, her Albino shark, which is only about an inch long is picking on other fish even bigger ones! He killed her much bigger Bala shark and keeps nipping at the sucker fish and snails and chases the guppie! Why is he so mean? Is that in his nature? He may be finding a new home today!

My friend bought my son a beta fish and I thought it would be nice to get the fish a friend. So I bought another beta fish and they wanted to kill each other. I had to buy a seperate tank for the other fish. I put the tanks next to each other, but it still seems like they want to kill each other thru the tanks. What can I do?
