I think your goldfish is dieing. Have you ever been to the petstore and lookes into the comet goldfish tank. They put hundreds in 50 gallons. Well ther is always 20 or so floating around. When you look at them you can tell their still alive but you know they wont last long.

I doubt your fish is suffering much. Sometimes fish just die. The chances of them dieing in the first 10 days is pretty high.

When i brought home my first few goldfish the next day the smaller one died. My sister described its movement similar to yours.

So just wait it out. Its kinda sad but he will probably be dead tomorrow morning and you cant take him anywhere or buy anything on christmas.

Im really sorry about your fish.

good luck with the others! and Merry Christmas!

Buying fish from a large chain petstore is no guarantee you will be getting healthy fish. These fish, especially goldfish, go through a very stressful shipping process and even if they look fine in the petstore, 99% of the time, they are sick. Also, what did you do when you brough the fish home? Did you just simply dump them from the bag into a new tank, or did you take some water from the tank and pour it into the bag to let them get acclimated before moving them to the tank? If you simply dumped them into the tank, you shocked them because they were subjected to a new water environment with a different water chemistry. Think about it, if I take you from a nice warm climate and drop you without proper clothing onto the north pole, would you be very comfortable? You may have shocked the fish.

It might be in shock & might not have been as healthy as you thought. Goldfish are funny critters like that. There's not a whole lot you can do for a fish though, sorry!! I hope it gets better for you!

How do you know they were healthy? I would try to take that one back to where you bought them and ask them what is going on.

if he doesn't change in 24 hrs. FLUSH HIM DOWN THE TOILET! It is better to flush then have him stay like that forever.
