do sucker fish need a heater and a big tank? or can they just be put into a goldfish bowl

do my goldfish need those little gravel rocks? i just got new ones yesterday [those 28 cent ones from walmart]. ive had them before and they die easy, that was because i didnt know how to take care of them. but now im older and know how to care for them. help?

I currently have a large 55 Gallon Tank with two Tetra 30-60 Power Filters. I have large fish (Oscar & Pacu) and a Red Tail Shark and 2 Plecos. I change my filters every 2 weeks (that would be a total of 4 filter cartridges since each filter holds two catridges). I also have to do a 50% water change EVERY WEEK since I have large fish in my tank. They are fed twice a day (once when I wake up and then again at night when I get home from work) but they aren't given a large amount of food. I use my water conditioner as directed, I also add salt to my water as well. And yet, my water will stay clear for a few days after the water change, but then it rapidly turns green within the week, and it's hard to see my fish in the tank! I heard that I need to leave the light off for a few days. Will this work? I only have the tank lights on during the day while I'm at work, and then I turn them off before bed. Even with that said, the lights are on more than they are off.

I switched my 1ft blue channel catfish into a 55 gallon tank from a 20 gallon tank.

Things that have changed-
-35 gallons (obviously)
-Another 2 ft long, 1inch wide and 2inches high.
-Minimal temp difference
-Much less Ammonia
-Much less Nitrite
-Little less Nitrate
-A change of +.5pH.

Will he stand a good chance of living?
He's swimming around fine at the moment, but he has a bit of a cloudy eye, so occasionly he will bump into the sides of the tank, but it's not that bad.

HOw long do Beta fish live. We have one and he's been acting kinda weird. We think he's getting old but i can't find out how long their suppose to live for. He's almost 2years.

My husband was given a fish tank, when he told a colleague, we are going to get fish for the children. We take good care of them, keep them clean, etc. We have now lost 9 fish in 14 months, one of them is sick again, she is a fighter, i have revived her twice now, with anti bacterial solution, but she has been sick for 2 days, on her back, gasping, but still here. Our other litle fella, was alive and boisterous this morning, i have just found him dead. This really upsets me, and the children,. I think it is the second hand tank, something harboured in there, could i be right? Our fish are very well looked after, but just keep dying on us. Symptons....upside down, gasping, rapid movements, float to the bottom of the tank, repeats, then dies, please help me here, what is wrong with them?

I received a special fish tank for x-mas, its called a frame-a-fish tank and its a wall mounted 3 gallon tank. I'm not sure what kind of fish i should put in it. I'd like something with a lot of color to offset my white walls. Any ideas? If you'd like to see one the website is www.frameafish.com

yesterday i got 4 small crawdads in my minnow trap down by my crick. i was wondeirng that maybe i could breed them, but i don't know how. how do u breed crawdad's? what kind of food do they eat?

I believe it happened when I tried to put another female with her, they looked as if they were getting along so I left them alone, a couple hours later this betta was laying on the floor of the tank fins torn and everything. This was about 5 months ago she hasn't been normal since that incident. Now I am thinking that her swim bladder was ruptured during that fight. I gave her an air pump and her own 1.5 gallon tank. Is there anything else I can do for her?

There is a chemical looking film floating at the top of the tank, and the tank is really foggy. My initial set-up, I used Aqua Safe-Water Conditioner, waited 3 days till I put my fish in. I have 3 Africian Cichlids Island Johanni's. I was also told to put in Aquarium Salt, and when the water got foggy to put in a Water Clairifier. Now reading similiar questions and answers, the only thing that everyone has in common is not to use any chemicals except the water conditioner! So I'm not quite sure how to fix this problem, nor do I want my fish to die! Please Help!!

I recently purchased an Albino Oscar. He looked fine in the tank at the pet store, but now that I have him at home he's acting quite strange.

Any time the light comes on or if he sees me enter the room he immediately sinks to the bottom of the tank and seems to play dead.

What's wrong?

We recently had a beta given to us by a friend and it nibbled at my poor guppy's tail. We removed the beta into a separate container, but will my poor guppy's little tail regenerate?

I have researched every possible website and no luck. I have 3 pink minnows ( or common goldfish ????? ) and I don't know what to feed them. Right now I'm feeding them goldfish flakes because Walmart said that they were, but they actually look like pink minnows ( What do they know?) Is what I'm feeding them ok? I bought a fish from Wal*Mart today. They told me what kind, and I looked on the tank and on the bag... but I can't remember anymore and I threw the bag away.

I thought it had an odd name, but that could very well be wrong. It's black, a couple inches long but not overly large. It's completely black with no other colour, and has pretty bulbous eyes. It has a large v-shaped tailfin.

I have a Abramite Head Stander. I really enjoy this fish it is very amusing. I am looking for info on this fish. I can't find any info about it on the web at all. I barely found out what it is called. Does anyone know anything more about this fish other than it's name? So far it hasn't killed anything & I noticed it likes to eat algie wafers. It often will grab a whole wafer and swim off to some hidden part of the tank to eat it.
