No, they puke, but they don't cough. In order to cough, you have to have lungs, fish have gills.

I've noticed that some fish make noises. My betta will, for lack of a better explaination, make a "click sound" And my clown loaches make a deeper "click sound". Maybe that could be confused for a fish coughing?

No, coughing is to expel air from the lungs in a sudden 'spasm'. Fish do not posses lungs, nor they breathe air, so they cannot cough.

no u need lungs to cough. u notice howu cough air fish dont breath oxygen from air!

Fish don't cough. but they do gulp. My fish gupls whenever he eats too much food at one, or if he just swam really fast. Your fish is gulping if it looks like it's eyes are bulging.
