You can definitely keep females together, if you have enough room.

DON'T keep them in a bowl, because bowls are too small for any fish; but if your tank is big enough, you can certainly get more than one female. Allot 3-4 gallons per female.

Do NOT keep any males with them. Males are very territorial towards all other bettas, and will only tolerate a female during spawning (and even then, many are injured).

The short answer is - NO.

But let me give you the real reasoning as to why.

Here's the scoop on bettas. They are aggressive, territorial fish. Two males WILL fight unless they have, like 30 or 40 gallons EACH. It is a breeding thing, even when no females are present.

A male and a female can only be put together if they are breeding AND if they have already shown signs of being interested in breeding with each other. If either isn't attracted to the other, there'll be a fight.

As to females, they will establish a pecking order in a tank, in the same way that schooling fish will. Like schooling fish, you can't have only 2, because one will establish dominance and chase the other relentlessly til it dies. I don't even recommend 3. My recommendation, as someone who has had a Betta Sorority, is 4 or more with NO LESS than 2 gallons per fish, and plenty of decorations and hidey holes to break up the view.

These are called "Sororities" for good reason. These are aggressive, territorial fish. Finding 4 or 5 who can get along without fighting all the time is as much of a crapshoot as picking 5 women at random, throwing them into a large one-room apartment, and expecting them to get along.

Sometimes you will end up with 2 betta-girls who demand to be the matriarch, and that is when they will fight to the death or until one backs down. You WILL have some battling initially during the creation of the pecking order and any addition ot or removal of a fish in an established Sorority will most likely throw the whole tender balance completely out of whack and start the fighting all over again. You will need to be ready, willing and able to house each of the girls separately (or give them back to the store and take a loss on your money).

Needless to say, a Sorority is not a venture to go into lightly.
It took a good deal of trial and error for me to find 5 girls who could get along.
That said, creating a working Sorority can be very interesting and rewarding.

Indeed bravo to what most of Tyrs said.

But if you really are set on doing it.
10 gallon tank MINIMUM
LOTS OF HIDING PLACES.
I mean lots lots of plants anything if you think it looks to crowded it's probally right, and add more.
As already discussed they will have agressive tendencies and the lesser fish of the sorority will need places to hide.
And when I say 10 gallons that's for 3 of them. If you want like...5 try a 20 gallon.

And if you want fish that are more likely (not guarenteed though) to get along with each other you should get spawn mates from a breeder. Which means find a breeder and get sisters from the same parents that are the same age together, with any luck they will get along better than picking 3 random girls from the pet store.

No, they are somewhat aggressive so either get just one, or get 3 or more so the aggressoin is spread out. If you just get 2 they will eventually kill each other.

OMG people are SOOO STUPID!! Have you guys ever kept a female betta?? Female bettas will nip eachother's fins a bit. If you have only 2, eventually they will kill each other. But 3 or more and the aggression is spread out, so they will be fine.

Female bettas are NOT aggressive, the males are

although every animal can have their own pesonality, so example I have a guppy that thinks its a barb

Oh and please, never keep even just one betta in a bowl less than one gallon

yes u can, as i visited a pet store and they told me that they need to be kept in a 2:1 ratio so 2 females per male. as the males become agressive towards each other. NOT THE FEMALES!!!

however id advise not to keep fish....especially tropical fish in a bowl a tank is much better.
