Honestly the easiest way is just to get a cheap all plastic pot scrubber and clean the tank by hand. Also reduce the amount of light it gets and reducing nitrates will help.
With fish and snail be careful. Be sure you know how big it gets.
Algae eaters- The standard chinese algae eater grows to nearly a foot a develops a taste for fish. The true siamese algae eater is hard to find, but stays small and love algae. Also the oto is a very small algae eater that is great as well.
Pleco- The common pleco grow to over a foot, and is really an omnivore bottom feeder. If you aren't over feeding the tank he will clean the glass. He may suck on big slow moving fish, and will eat anything that fits in his mouth. Also they like to dig, and up root things.
There are a number of small breed pelco, but it's very hard to tell them apart. Ideal algae eaters are clown, bushy nosed, bullnosed/rubber lipped, and zebra. They are rarer and slightly to alot more expensive. (Zebra can easy cost $50-$200, while the rest can be $5-20.)
Snails- Cheap and good for small tanks They may eat your plants. Avoid any snail other than the mystery or apple snail. (Note that mystery snails are called mystery as the group is near impossible to tell apart. Some eat more vegies than other.) Other types of snail may go from 1 to 100 in 6 months. Apple and mystery snails will only breed with a mate and slowly.

Greetings, Try t cut back on the amount of light into the tank. That is the main contributing factor. Next I would suggest plecostomus algae eaters because the Chinese algae eaters can become aggressive and territorial. I would not suggest snails because they reproduce at an alarming rate. I would NOT suggest chemicals because it is not natural. Plus most chemicals will harm live plants and water levels. If on the glass, simply wipe it off with a paper towel that contains no chemicals. You can purchase algae pads, scrubbers, and magnets. Good luck

The most important thing you can do is keep light out of your aquarium. Algae grows from light.
An algae eater-But these mostly stay hidden or the ones I have do.
Small snails are to much of a pest because they reproduce like rabbits and you can never get rid of them and once they die you are left with small ugly shells at the bottom.
I am a fan of Apple snails. They get huge (golf ball size) pet smart sells them. They call them mystery snails. You can also get them off of aquabid.com. If you have live plants go with Briggs not Canas.
Bottom feeders may help some. I like albino Cory catfish.

First of all try and ensure that your tank gets less light. Light is the biggest contributing factor for algae. Then try the magnetic algae cleaners. Finally get 2 Plecos.

well you can buy an algae scraper or another fish like the algae eater... but once it finds other sources like fish food, it might switch instead... or use harmful chemicals

The pet shop sells inexpensive bottles of algae-destroyer.
Also, always keep your aquarium placed out of direct sunlight, which will cause algae to grow.

hi id advise ......from personal experience dont get the chinese algae eater/suking loach at first they will get rid of algae but as they grow older they become very agressive and territorial...they attached themselves to my other larger fish.
it is much better to get a plec as they are not aggressive.......
( I have two albino plecs) and they clean just as good as the chinese suking loach/algae eater
