if you feel like doing some math try this
check the watts on the motor
then divide by 1000 (that is how the power company figures the bill kilowatts)
then multiply by by your electric rate (get that off the electric bill probably around $.09 per kilowatt hour)
then multiply by 24hours in a day and 30 days a month
if there is is a heater that can be calculated too but it only runs some of the time so you will have to guess on that it might only run 10% if the time
this should give the cost per month
if you get more than $10.00 some thing was probably wrong in the calculation.

It really depends on the size of tank you are going to use and the amount of electrical devices you would put in it. If you just put in the standard equipment - light, filter, air pump, and possibly a heater - it should't cost you too much. I have had fish for years and my electric bill hasn't gone up but maybe a cent.

Hope this really helps :)

Depends on the set up. A smaller tank will barely cost you anything. I would say the cost is very minor though. We had a pretty big salt water set up a few years back and I really didn't notice a difference in my electric bill.

It depends on

1. Where you are
2. What you're paying for electricity
3. How big the tank is
4. To what temperature you're heating it
5. To what extent, if any, you're aerating it
6. Whether and to what extent you're lighting it

But in any case, the answer is that it doesn't cost any significant amount in compariison to the cost of the fish and the equipment. If you can afford to keep fish you don't need to worry about the tiny sum necessary in terms of electricity used.

Even the big tanks do not cost that much. I have no real figures but its nothing to be scared of unless your on the edge of bankruptcy or something.
