We recently had a beta given to us by a friend and it nibbled at my poor guppy's tail. We removed the beta into a separate container, but will my poor guppy's little tail regenerate?

Thanks for any help.

yes as long as you keep your water clean so that it doesnt get infected

The tail is not likely to grow back. I have seen a person treat their fishes' injuries to prevent infection. If it can still swim maybe it will make it. Hoping for the best for you and Mr. Guppie. They caught it in a net and I cannot recall what they used but they just poured the stuff on the injury. If you check with your local pet store they can tell you what to use.

You might want to get some maracyn 1 & 2 or Melafix for fin rot/fungus etc. just to be on the safe side with the guppy and prevent the tail from getting infected.. maybe put him in a tank to himself just so you can treat him alone for a few days and do frequent water changes and just follow directions on medicines..

Good luck.

i think it will because my brother has fish and he has an angel fish that is missing a part of its fin and its slowly growing back. I'm not sure if it will work with guppies though. If you ask me it should it will most likely take a while.

It depends on how bad it is. If its already causing him trouble swimming then he may not make it. But if he seams fine I wouldn't worry. I have seen their tails grow back from minor injury's but I have not see anything bad to compare.
