Depends on the fish. Some killifish only live for about 10 months. Goldfish on the other hand if taken care of right have an average life span of about 25 years. Although there are some people who claim to have goldfish 50 years old!
In your instance, Rosy Barbs usually live to around 7-10 years. So your fish is still relatively young!
And don't be surprised if a fish lives longer than its suggested life span. Bettas for example usually live only 2-3 years. But I and many people I know have bettas that surpass the 5-8 year range.

It depends on the type of fish and the conditions they are kept in.
Some fish, like some killifish, are known as 'seasonal' fish because they live out their entire lives in a few months.
Other fish, like goldfish, can live 20+ years if properly cared for.
Bettas can live 3-4 years, sometimes more, if they aren't stuck in jars.
Most small fish should live 2-6 years, and some of the larger cichlids can live 8-12 years.

Freshwatter fish can live anywhere from one day to about 10 years!!! I had a goldfish that lived until she was six years old. There life is a mystery but it depends on what species you buy. I reccomend Goldfish personally because they are easy to talke care of. Don't buy a variety of fish though!!! If you buy goldfish stay with a family of goldfish. If you followed that, you should have some long living freshwatter fish!

1-2 years, it really depends tho, because thats something you have to be diligent about, i had ALOT of freshwater fish, yep they all died, well if you buy something like an Oscar fish, like those that are in a family of a pirrana, that that would live like about 15 years or more, i still have mine, & i got it somewhere around 96 & it still lives., yeah & its a freshwater fish too, it might be alittle expensive tho, like about $40-50, but its worth it, this fish lives for like 15 yrs or more.

That sounds good. A goldfish can live for about 10 yrs, so if you take good care of your fish, it can live a pretty long life.
