NO NO NO DO NOT RELEASE IT INTO THE WILD!!!! It may carry diseases that it is immune to but the wild fish may not be immune to them. You also don't want to contribute to an overpopulation of goldfish in the river that wipes out the population of native fish. Plus it is illegal. Did you know that the largemouth bass used to be the top fish in the Everglades? Well thanks to stupid aquarists releaseing their fish into the wild, the Oscar has nearly obliterated the largemouth bass population. Take your fish to a fish store, or if you have to, kill it. DO NOT RELEASE IT INTO THE WILD!

No, that river is not safe, back in the late 70' and in the 80's, fish out of that river had sores and infected skins on them. They contributed ti to companies dumping into the river. Do not eat any fish from that river ever.

You should not put your fish in the Ohio River. Such extreme changes in pH, hardness, and temperature will kill it. There are methods of euthanizing goldfish that you can look up on Google.

it doesn't really matter, it won't last 15 minutes in there because something large will eat it all over this country goldfish are used for bait, their color attracts game fish some get off the hook and escape so they get into our waterways anyway
why don't you give it back to the pet shop and let them find it a new home

As an animal lover, I would suggest giving back to the pet store or to someone who wants it. Surely you know someone with a tank. If he is a Pittsburgh fan he might travel there- :)

If you love something, set it free. If it returns, its yours

If you really dont care for it, put it in the Ohio river, and it will die, relieving you of any obligation.

It's actually illegal so don't do it unless you want fines and the (possible) destruction of species in the river.
