I have had a saltwater fishtank for About 4 years now. The tank is 110 Gallons. I change about 15 gallons a month and feed them everyday with 2 types of food. Dispite all of this my fish still die. One of my two yellow tangs died today. My other one is doing fine and i have a maroon Clownfish that i have had for 3 years who I suspect to be bullying my fish until they die. It also appeared that he was eating. I was leaving algae rubberbanded to filterhead. What is killing my fish? Thanks

I Bought both of my Yellowtangs at the same time around Thanksgiving. Both were shy, but feeding no fin damage. They were also holding their own against a squirrel fishand a snapper in the dealers tank. This tang made a short acute decline while the other one and the clownfish are thriving.

Sounds like either one of 3 things.
1) The water perameters are wrong, but I doubt this, because they would have been dead earlier..
2) The fish are most likely dying from stress, make sure the other fish in the tank aren't bullying the smaller fish around. Are the fish all compatible?
3) They may be dying from sudden changes in the water perameters, caused by ph droppers or raisers, chemicals.
good luck in finding the solution.

The first thing is to have your water tested for all the normal stuff, ammonia, nitrites, nitrates, oxygen.
If any of those are off then you need to resolve that problem. Ammonia and nitrite should be zero. Nitrates should be below 20ppm
If those are good then you need to look at your food sources. Ideally you want to vary their diet more than just two foods. Use only high quality foods and make sure you see each fish eating. Tangs are notorious for not getting enough food. So you'll want to supplement with spinach, brocoli and other green foods. I use a non toxic clip and clip in foods to the side of the tank daily. Make sure to net out anything that they don't eat though, as you don't want that breaking down in the tank.
It's possible that the clownfish is being a bully. They are in the damsel family and damsels are very territorial. But in 110 gallon tank I would think you'd have enough room for one clown and other fish.

Maroon clowns can be very territorial, though it may be that you had 2 yellow tangs together. They are a shoaling fish in nature but you need many more than 2 and about 600 gal of water to get them to get along.
Doing water changes more often is a good idea.
Stop using the the blocks.
Corals need lots of light.

It seems such as you didnt do somewhat adequate analyze till now beginning up this. There are some issues to procure incorrect: a million. stay rock is a necessity for an aquarium, to start up the cycle with preliminary die-off. 2. YOU did no longer CYCLE THE AQUARIUM. till now including fish or corals, you're able to cylce the aquarium and wait till water parameters are good and relentless till now including fish. i be attentive to quickstart says which you will no longer could cycle, yet frankly quickstart won't help. you're able to cycle the aquarium. 3. You further too many fish too rapidly and with out learning the fish. once you start up a reef aquarium you're able to attend a minimum of a month till now including the 1st fish, and then basically upload ONE. you're able to inventory the tank slowly over a quantity of time. a million fish each and every week is pushing it, to be uncomplicated never upload greater suitable than one on a similar time in saltwater, especially if the aquarium isn't yet good. as properly to this, you're able to get your information straigt it somewhat is authentic that damselfish are hardy and sturdy for cycling/attempting out, yet they're additionally very aggressive and could kill one yet another. TANGS desire a minimum of 60 GALLONS TO DO properly, AND ARE VERY FINICKY. Your tank isn't sufficiently enormous for a tang, and regardless of if it became, tangs are very no longer uncomplicated to maintain, and are companies to ailment. It became a terrible thought to function one (and an excellent worse thought to flush a fish down the rest room- it may mess up interior of sight water structures). 4. YOU DONT be attentive to what's BEEN IN THAT TANK. There could very honestly be copper or another deadly substance in that tank that has leached in to the water and is killing your fish. those are basically the tip of the iceberg. that is not your fault, you basically desire greater awareness and adventure in the interest. My suggestion could be to take this tank down, surely. carry out a little greater analyze, and as quickly as you incredibly be attentive to what you're doing (reef aquarium equpment, cycling technique, fish compatabilty, etc.), you're able to come again to it and attempt returned. in the advise time, shop FRESHWATER AQUARIUMS. the kit to procure on your tank is greater effective suitable for sparkling water, and freshwater tanks are substantially greater convenient to maintain than reefs or saltwater, and lots greater effective for the beginner aquarist.

where are you getting the fish from? because if you are getting them from a saltwater lake or something then you need to use that water only.
