They really love thin slices of cucumber. Weigh it down so it doesnt float on the surface of the water. You can also feed them lettuce (not iceburg) and I think maybe squash.

They love frozen bloodworms. Chopped earthworms, tiny minnows, even small bits of ground beef occasionally. I feed mine a smooshed shelled frozen pea once a week, especially if they've only had flake food, since they tend to get constipated easily (poo stringing out behind them - yecch!) and the pea helps with that.

This is what I do:
Flake food once a day, substitute live food twice a week, and a pea once a week. You can also fast them once a week. It doesnt't harm them a bit.

They also love live plants, but that can get expensive really fast. If you can get duckweed easily and cheaply, it makes a supplement that they seem to enjoy greatly.

Actually depending on the size. When i had goldfish i fed mine small earthworms or red worm. You can get them at a bait shop. Some pet stores may carry them. However it may take your goldfish time to learn to eat them. I had 1 that never did take to eating them.

Try sticking a half dollar size Pirana in there. Really healthy, lots of proteins.

You can dig worms out of your garden and they will eat them, but if you don't want to do that you can buy them from a pet store!
