my cichlid is just laid some eggs in a highly hidden place she is the only cichlid in there but she is also with 2 oscars in a 7ft tank, i have had her for about a month now. will the eggs hatch as there is no male??

if she mated before you got her.but if you leave her in tank she will have no chance with Oscars they will eat baby's and when they get bigger they will eat everything in tank.sorry to tell you bad news.act now before it.s to late.good luck.

The eggs need to be fertilised by a male. I'm not certain but I think with many species of ciclids it is the male who looks after the eggs and the babies. Sorry but I think the eggs will be eaten on this occasion but you could always get a male fish and try again.

No, if she is the only fish of that species in the tank and there are no other cichlids closely related to her species in the tank, no, the eggs will not be fertile.

You should get a male. My friend had cichlid babies and the pet store paid a lot of money in store credit for them.

they will probably not hatch since you need two of the same kinds animals of the opisite sex to allow the eggs to hatch

no. fish mate by laying eggs and waiting for a male to swim by and fertilize them.

move them to a different tank with the momma, or get a bigger tank.
